I decided that after my last move, I was going to leave it all the next time and start over. You'll wish it too. |

I know! I'm looking at all the crap I have and I have to downsize considerably. Blah.
Luckily anything left out on the sidewalk outside of my current apartment disappears in 5 minutes or less. ![]() |

You're moving!
To? How much time do you have, and / or how long should it take? How much stuff do you have to pick up carry? What floor are you on? Do you have, or need an elevator? Do you have a truck, minivan, or the like? If I came to NYC would you have a corner with a sleeping bag? I'll take you to dinner! |

Dude, it's all walkup ... but only two floors (thank god)....
Hopefully it'll only take a day ... hopefully. And minivan/truck will be rented. I have a ton o' crap. This ain't gonna be fun ... but dinner would be on me. And there's plenty of floorspace and comfy pillows.I'm mostly being facetious posting this ... I have friends who will help ... I'm just dreading the move. |

Lists are good.
That's fine, not exactly the best way to see the city. When I lived on the Lower East Side, it was 5th Fl walk up. Man, I don't regret that exercise. It's the best way to stay slim. Look on the bright side, right! It'll be worth it when you're in new quarters. Good luck! |

Yep, I'm pretty excited! Moving into Hell's Kitchen ... should be the start of a new adventure.
You're not in Gotham anymore? What made you leave? I've heard tell that once you live in NYC, you have this invisible umbilical cord that constantly drags you back... Oh and I LOVE the lower east side ... they had an apartment on St. Marks that I considered, but when I googled the address it had about eight different escort agencies listed as its residents. ![]() Oh and PFP? IT IS THE SECOND FLOOR! Shush you! |

Books really suck when you’ve gotta move. They’re damn heavy. Pianos are the stuff of nightmares - have a professional move those, unless you have a friend who is eligible for the “world’s strongest man” competition. I helped move the piano on the parent’s last move - it was an upright grand, and I was very afraid. Beware the old shite that makes you start bawling. Be sure the moving truck is in good working order; on my last move, the brake got stuck when I stopped for gas. It took about an hour to convince U-Haul that it wasn’t my fault, and they had to send a mechanic from 4 hours away, waking him up at like 3:00 AM.
Woo-hoo! You’re movin’ on up- just like the Jeffersons! |

Yeah, NYC was fun. I left because almost everything of value was stolen. Dating myself here, but the rent was $85/mo, so rather than move uptown it was back to LI and a few more dead end jobs. After 28 years in NYC, Huntington & Oyster Bay an offer came up to go south and I couldn't resist. But I still think about NY alot.
NYC is unique and great, if you can make it there, you can make it aannnywhere, NY NY |

I'd love to help, but a commute from Florida to NY would be a bit of a stretch.
Plus, I got another rose bush yesterday and will plant that this weekend as well as clean out the lily bed. Guess that's a no. Hope you get it all done! |
