Guitar Lessons

In response to the Guitar Questions thread i thot i would share this most humbling xperience

Narr: There r only 2 real charactors in this play. Clytie and her little
sister Leah. Mr Guitarman is not really there. And so with out further
adu.... "Guitar Lessons...the Play" Our heroine has succome to actually
practicing the guitar she has had for almost 3 months now.

Clytie: I was busy!

Narr: eh busy thats what they all say! and dont interupt me Im narrating!

Clytie: *rolls eyes*

Narr: I saw that! So our friend here has rented a video from the
library titled "Guitar 4 dummies" and boy is she gonna need it!

Clytie: the guy on it CANT sing worth crap but hey I tuned my guitar and
managed to play a A and a D.

Mr Guitarman: lets play a simple 1 chord song

Clytie: *grins* I can do that

Gman: ok now place the fingers *weaves fingers into an intracate pattern*
like so and then strum strum strum strum

Clytie: How am I supposed to do that?!?!

Narr: finally after wrestling with her guitar shes gotten it rite

Clytie: *strums outtasync (opposite of nsync) with the guy and manages to pull it together
rite at the closing chord. *exhales* that was harder than I thought.

Leah: Clytie do u want me to rewind that for you?

Clytie: um no thats ok...

Gman: and now lets learn a new chord

Clytie: ooo goody!

Gman: Ok now put your fingers here

Clytie: What! Howd he do that?!?! *struggles with it*

Gman: *has continued with the lesson with out Cly*

Leah: Ill rewind it!

Gman: Now just strum and move your fingers strum strum strum d chord...
strum strum strum A chord

Clytie: wait a second Im supposed to move my fingers that fast??? N0000

Leah: Ill rewind it!

Narr: and so we leave our friend with this conclusion

Clytie: I have the starting of some nice callouses but still can only do one
chord songs

Supplies:
Empty Rectangular Tissue Box
4 Rubberbands
Empty Paper Towel Tube
Masking Tape

Trace and cut a hole in the short end of the tissue box the size of the end of the paper towel tube. Insert the tube about 1 1/2" into the hole and adhere with strips of masking tape from the inside end of the tube onto the inside of the tissue box. Stretch rubber bands around the tissue box over the opening of the box. Decorate the outside with paper or felt. Hold the end of the tube as a handle and strum the rubber bands to play.

how bout a tamborine?

Tambourine
2 styrofoam plates
Uncooked beans or noodles (buttons or beads)
Stapler
Masking Tape
Felt (optional)

Fill one plate with beans/noodles, place the other plate on top so the front sides are together. Staple around the edge of the plates to keep the filling in. Then run masking tape around the top of the staples to cover up any sharp parts. When taping off staples, insert ribbons or crepe paper giving your tambourine colorful streamers. Decorate the plate with markers, crayons or paint.
