awful, really awful. i don't think i'll ever be able to fully fit the result of war into my brain, it just refuses to understand all the casualties and wounded.

i fail to understand why killing people is good. the lives of the generation that is fighting is already over, they will never be the same. their kids will be war children, sometimes without parents, or traumatized by their parents' stories. they will pass the stories on to their children. awful.

I'm certainly not offended; this whole war makes me sick. Even if anyone was offended by what you wrote (which I very much doubt), the fact that you have the sensitivity to clarify your thoughts and apologize more than makes up for it.

War is just murder on a large scale, usually justified in the name of God and/or country. There is always a better way; humankind has never found it. It isn't because there is no such better way; it's because we are incapable of understanding it.

Perhaps if we manage to live through the next few eons without killing ourselves off, it will dawn on us....

Well, that makes for a cry too early in the morning. I cannot stand that children end up being the spoils of war.

I'm not offended by your post either, Frieda. I hate war. I hate death dealt by the hands of others in such a violent manner. I do see that "war" is sometimes the only means in which to make things better in the future (and sometims it isn't). But I still hate it because of the awful sacrifice it requires to reach the goal. It shouldn't be this way in life, but it is. This is us in our glory, our worst, our most selfless, our most greedy. This is life.

One of the reasons this mess exists is because this U.S. administration was able to make speaking out seem unpatriotic. The offense lies with those who sit silently as our government dismantles this planet and kills for the benefits of a privileged few, and in the name of righteousness.

That partial leg with the foot attached immediately brought me a couple of years back to all those images I had to see every freakin' day for a month straight, and then ongoing until the end of the year.

Needless deaths. I hate this shit.

Of political ones, I've only seen the G-dub LIAR shirt. (I've always loved that one. There was a whole series of similar ones -- MURDERER, CRIMINAL, etc. -- with Reagan's pic, plastered all over SF during the Bedtime for Bonzo administration.)

What I don't understand is the mentality that exist over there. Most of the rest of the world had come to the conclusion that we have to do something. I will never understand the killing of the innocent to make a point. Others who deny that the Holocaust had never happened is another mentality of this world that that I doubt I will ever understand. These brutal images is all a horrible coincidence of war, but this war's intentions is to stop the violence and killing. It may not be so cut and dry but what else is there for the concerned to do to make a difference. Ignoring it will not make it go away or will the powers that be stop from finding more hideous forms of mass destruction.

I am sorry to bring up a point that many disagree with, but if something is not done, even after the "so called" mistake of starting this war, it could all get worse for everyone in this world. Read the Bible, especially the New Testement. That area of the earth has a lot involved with the Bible from the begining to the end.

Yep. There will always be war there and it will only get worse. If you are a believer in the Bible you know that there will be no peace for quite some time. I'd rather be on this side anyday.
