So tomorrow is Mother's Day & since I am a nosey beeyotch, I'd like to know what you're doing for your mother.
If the country you're in isn't celebrating tomorrow, or if you've lost your mother, you could just share a good memory of her with us. And if you *are* a mother, please post tomorrow night what the kiddos did for you. I will go first: My mother is having free breakfast tomorrow @ Casa Del Rio, then we are going to the sneak preview of Raising Helen. Then if the weather is cooperating, we will go for a hike in the woods. for dinner I wanted to make her this shrimp/mushroom rigatoni, but she is clamoring for chicken. And since tomorrow is her day, if she wants chicken, she shall have it. For gifts, I got her an $11 box of Godiva, and this book Hope all the mothers & others have a wonnnnderful Mother's Day!! ![]()

Sounds like you are going to stay in the will!!
Actually, my mom is one of those that forbids us to buy her anything except for a card. I am sending her a gift certificate to a resturant where she lives though since she never gets to go out on a date with my stepdad..........

I don't think Mrs Funky would like that very much... maybe breakfast in bed might go over better.

1. Ideally, I'd give her a good malletting and I would keep on going until she woke up to herself, apologised for the years of misery she has put me, my husband and my father through and promised to stop being 100% egocentric, selfish, cruel, derogatory and rude.
2. But it looks like it's a roast dinner at her house. I will give her a Delft pig becuase she collects Delft and pigs. She will try and kiss me. I will duck. And if she tries again, point 1 will definitely apply. |

We've got the same mom! Remember that thread where my sis and i got her the Cant Understand Normal Thinking bumpersticker!!! You should have one too! Actually, everybody sat me down and told me that now that she's old, the old give and take has just turned into me looking like the mean one if I should happen to speak contrary to her opinion at the time..... Soooooo..........we celebrated last Sun. I made her a photo album of the Bink, and I cooked better than she does. gak. She left for Georgia til Oct. yesterday. Phew. Actually, malletting is not an option, there were many years that she was loving and kind and did pay my rent. All is forgiven. She's just deranged, and I can't quite hold it against her permanently, as she's not always that way, just usually. Last edited by Audreyvgs : 05-09-2004 at 03:12 AM. |

I called my Ma, who is 80 and lives in Key Largo, and we both had a good laugh over how Mother's Day is a lot of malarkey for old bats in velour jogging suits with teddy bears on them. Then she told me about her latest bumper sticker, which says "Trim The Bushes". We both hoped nobody would overhear us since this was supposed to be one of those Hallmark Cards conversations and we were using a lot of bad language about politics and telling raunchy jokes instead. Then we hung up.
My son got me a tiny snowglobe with the Ruby Slippers in it; it's adorable. My daughter got me some hazelnut votive candles and a pewter sun face candle holder. I am as happy as a pig in poop. The End. |

Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's on the board!!
I got all kinds of fun stuff so far. New loungers, tea roses, coffee, and later I am being taken to see the object of my lust, errr, I mean, affection, Van Helsing. ( aka Hugh Jackman ) My mom is a doll, albeit a little out there. Must be where I get it . Anyway, I am taking 3 gift occasions worth of presents over today. Housewarming, birthday, and mother's day.I have a rule about gift buying. Unless it is a "together" gift..I buy stuff that is useful only to/by the recipient. Therefore, my mom is getting candles, bubble bath, slippers etc for Mother's Day and birthday. Housewarming: gift certificate to Loews. Party on! ![]() found this: Neurotics build castles in the air, psychotics live in them. My mother cleans them. - - - - Rita Rudner
