{NOTE TO NEWCOMERS: BY POPULAR DEMAND, THIS THREAD HAS BEEN UPGRADED SINCE ITS INCEPTION FROM COUPLETS TO QUATRAINS}
We've mastered the trochee, now it's time for the iambs!! As trochees are two-syllables with the accent on the FIRST, iambs are two-syllables with the accent on the LAST (i.e., TRO-chee / i-AMB). Four-foot trochaic line: TUM ta / TUM ta / TUM ta / TUM ta SMART-y / PANTS you / ARE an/ ID-jit Four-foot iambic line: ta TUM / ta TUM / ta TUM / ta TUM show SMART / -y PANTS / the FARK / -ing DOOR THREAD INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Each line is FOUR iambs in a row. 2. These are QUATRAINS - FOUR lines complete the poem 3. Communal - One line per person. 4. No rhymes necessary! 5. The KICKER: Each poem MUST BE NARRATIVE! (They must tell a story, not be declarative or idly descriptive.) EXAMPLE: UNacceptable - declarative: If all you do is piss and moan I cannot help you out one whit. acceptable - narrative: I bought a drink and met a guy who told me I should fark myself. --------------------------------------------------- When I was young I shaved my cat
