Let's talk about Y-O-U!

Ok, here's a few Q's for you to ponder about your errant youth:

1. As a child, did you have a nickname? What was it and how did you get it?

2. Who were your core group of friends growing up? Do you still keep in touch?

3. What would your mother/father say is the most aggravating thing about you?

4. What would your mother/father say is the greatest thing about you?

5. What was your best subject at school?

6. Think back to when you were 7, what did you want to be when you grew up? Did you become that?

7. Were you into sports? What sport was your "best" one?

8. What television show was a "must-see" when you were a kid? Why?

9. Do you have any siblings? What placement are you? (oldest, youngest, middle, only).

10. You just made a chef d'oevre in art class -- what did you bring home to mom to put up on the fridge?

11. Did you ever get spanked? If not, how did your folks handle discipline? If you have kids now, how do you handle discipline?

12. Did either of your parents stay home to "take care of the kids" as you grew up (was it mom or dad)? Or did both your parents work? For either of these questions, do you think it had any impact on who you are now?

13. Are your parents still together or divorced? If they divorced, how old were you when that happened? (If this is too personal, skip this question).

14. What's the best value you think your parents instilled in you?

15. Did you participate in any plays in grade school? If so, what role did you play? Were you a star?

and finally:

16. Children are goofy. They do goofy things. What was the strangest thing you did as a child that your parents and/or siblings still talk about years later?

Oddly enough, I never took art class.

11. Did you ever get spanked? If not, how did your folks handle discipline? If you have kids now, how do you handle discipline?

Yes. Don't have kids.

12. Did either of your parents stay home to "take care of the kids" as you grew up (was it mom or dad)? Or did both your parents work? For either of these questions, do you think it had any impact on who you are now?

1. As a child, did you have a nickname? What was it and how did you get it? Sassy Kathy. My mom and her friends said I always talked back. But I don't know anything about that...

2. Who were your core group of friends growing up? Do you still keep in touch? There were a bunch of kids on my block and I've known them all since before I can remember (I moved to this block when I was 1 1/2). They are Tab, Kam, Shawn, Leo, Tommy, Tina, and a few others. I only keep in touch with three of them now.

3. What would your mother/father say is the most aggravating thing about you? That I'm extremely stubborn.

4. What would your mother/father say is the greatest thing about you? That I'm strong-willed (obviously they have a love hate thing going on with my "strong-willed"personality)

5. What was your best subject at school? Art

6. Think back to when you were 7, what did you want to be when you grew up? A singer like Olivia Newton John.
Did you become that? No. But I still sing constantly. I'm a perpetual music box for my son.

7. Were you into sports? What sport was your "best" one? I loved flag football and gymnastics and I was really good at sprinting.

8. What television show was a "must-see" when you were a kid?
Charlie's Angels and Kroft Superstars Why? Those chicks were beautiful and could do karate! As far as the Kroft episodes - come on! What wasn't there to love? lol

9. Do you have any siblings? Yes. Two.What placement are you? (oldest, youngest, middle, only).Youngest. I have a twin brother who was born four minutes before me and one older sister.

10. You just made a chef d'oevre in art class -- what did you bring home to mom to put up on the fridge? Uuuum. If it was an art class, it would have been a drawing of a horse.

11. Did you ever get spanked? Yes. If not, how did your folks handle discipline? If you have kids now, how do you handle discipline? I usually take away his X-Box, which he considers to be a punishment worse than death.

12. Did either of your parents stay home to "take care of the kids" as you grew up (was it mom or dad)? My mom did off and on. But usually she was training for horse shows, which allowed us to go with her while she was working. Or did both your parents work? They both worked off and on throughout my youth. For either of these questions, do you think it had any impact on who you are now? Yes. For reasons I won't go into.

13. Are your parents still together or divorced? Still together. If they divorced, how old were you when that happened? (If this is too personal, skip this question).

14. What's the best value you think your parents instilled in you? Being an honest person and holding yourself accountable for your actions.

15. Did you participate in any plays in grade school? Yes.If so, what role did you play? Sometimes I directed, but most ofthe time I acted - I was a hysterical woman in the Monkey's Paw, the mother in The Glass Menagerie, and a string of other roles that I can't recall, offhand. Were you a star? I was pretty good at it and was told so, yes.

and finally:

16. Children are goofy. They do goofy things. What was the strangest thing you did as a child that your parents and/or siblings still talk about years later? I started wearing glasses when I was five and I HATED it. So whenever I got a new pair, I would take them out to the sidewalk where my Mom couldn't see me, and stomp on them.

Ok, here's a few Q's for you to ponder about your errant youth:

1. As a child, did you have a nickname? What was it and how did you get it?

Grace. Because I can trip over air. I think my dad is to blame for the nic.

2. Who were your core group of friends growing up? Do you still keep in touch?

We moved 11 times in 14 years because of my dad's work. I have one friend I have known since I was 9 that I still see.

3. What would your mother/father say is the most aggravating thing about you?

My dad always said "IF the whole world was turning right, YOU would hang a left". I have no idea what he meant.

4. What would your mother/father say is the greatest thing about you?

The same thing that made them crazy, my determination and loyalty.

5. What was your best subject at school?

English and history.

6. Think back to when you were 7, what did you want to be when you grew up? Did you become that?

I wanted to be a prosecutor. (I can see Beale cringing now) Hell no! I just do it for free and on a first come first serve basis now lol

7. Were you into sports? What sport was your "best" one?
no sports; had rhumatic fever as a kid. roller skates and bike were it for me.

8. What television show was a "must-see" when you were a kid? Why?

didn't watch much tv other than the 3 stooges; go figure.

9. Do you have any siblings? What placement are you? (oldest, youngest, middle, only).

I am the oldest of 4

10. You just made a chef d'oevre in art class -- what did you bring home to mom to put up on the fridge?

I never brought stuff home; we moved so much it all got tossed anyway.

11. Did you ever get spanked? If not, how did your folks handle discipline? If you have kids now, how do you handle discipline?

Oh yeah, I got spanked. 3 times in my memory and all for good reasons. Crossing between parked cars, going down my slide on my roller skates, and giving away my dad's entire paycheck to my friends ( I was 4 ) I try not to spank; usually a well placed "HEY! Knock that off!" will suffice.

12. Did either of your parents stay home to "take care of the kids" as you grew up (was it mom or dad)? Or did both your parents work? For either of these questions, do you think it had any impact on who you are now?

Mom stayed home. I chose a profession that allows me to be in and out of my house pretty much at will.

13. Are your parents still together or divorced? If they divorced, how old were you when that happened? (If this is too personal, skip this question).

My parents divorced when I was 18

14. What's the best value you think your parents instilled in you?

Don't wait for someone else to do your job; take responsibility for your own actions.

15. Did you participate in any plays in grade school? If so, what role did you play? Were you a star?

I was always the new kid at school, so I just kept to myself and waited for the next move.

and finally:

16. Children are goofy. They do goofy things. What was the strangest thing you did as a child that your parents and/or siblings still talk about years later?

According to my family, I have never done anything that wasn't goofy. They each have a list on me a mile long, and I am not sharing.

16. Children are goofy. They do goofy things. What was the strangest thing you did as a child that your parents and/or siblings still talk about years later?
The time my parents decided to leave me and my sisters alone for the first time, without a babysitter. Apparently we lit red candles and danced all around the house. I say apparently because I don't remember doing this. I do remember cleaning red candle wax off of the walls, doors, drapes, the floors and the brick fireplace. Mom thew away every candle in the house even Frosty and Santa! It was a dark day.

10. You just made a chef d'oevre in art class -- what did you bring home to mom to put up on the fridge?
a funny poem

11. Did you ever get spanked? If not, how did your folks handle discipline? If you have kids now, how do you handle discipline?
yes i was spanked...i actually think it did alot to help me!

12. Did either of your parents stay home to "take care of the kids" as you grew up (was it mom or dad)? Or did both your parents work? For either of these questions, do you think it had any impact on who you are now?
my mom stayed at home. i loved it. it really helped me alot - to be able to have someone there for me

13. Are your parents still together or divorced? If they divorced, how old were you when that happened? (If this is too personal, skip this question).
my parents have been married for 32 years!

14. What's the best value you think your parents instilled in you?
just one? wow my parents taught me so much! they instilled in me morals...manners...how to embrace life...overall they loved me and that has the most impact

15. Did you participate in any plays in grade school? If so, what role did you play? Were you a star?
even tho i am outgoing now...i never used to be...im sad i missed out on opportunities like that

and finally:

16. Children are goofy. They do goofy things. What was the strangest thing you did as a child that your parents and/or siblings still talk about years later?
when i was 2 or 3 years old my dad made a recording of a conversation between him and i. my dad sings to me - and i nearly eat the mic..u can hear it on the tape...lol
