Copyright

A friend have mine has a collection of very good songs he'd written.. does anyone have any clue about how to get them copyrighted? Its a minefield as far as I can tell..

in the US all you have to do is write "copyright 2004 - all rights reserved" on the songs. you can register them with the copyright office but that isn't necessary to provide legal protection. it's probably different for each country.

It povides legal protection, but no monetary damages without actual registration.. time to call pueblo...

The fail-safe is putting copies of the material in a sealed envelope and mailing them to yourself ... then never opening it. It provides a time/date stamp to let people know when it was created.

Some say use registered mail, but I think regular mail works as well.
