Oh, JEEzus!
I heard a noise, looked out the window and there is a skunk on the front porch eating out of the cat bowl.
Welcome to Half-Ass Acres. Oliver! I get allergic smelling hay! LOL What the Hell is a skunk doing in the city, you may ask? (at least, the four-legged variety....) We live right on the edge of the Cuyahoga River Valley and near the Cleveland Metroparks System. I hope to Christ none of the stupid cats gets into it with him. I really do. This is all we need to make our lives complete (or is that one for the Lies Thread?) |

You don't want that puppy cruising around your house for food. He may spray (like a cat) to mark his territory -- likely on your house.

I love skunks.
I have a collection of them, ceramic, stuffed & otherwise, in a shadowbox. Give your new friend Flower a kiss for me. ![]()

Ai yi -- don't I know it! We had a family of them out behind our garage last summer -- we finally got rid of them by finding the hole through which they were getting under the garage foundation and sealing it off. They're not the least bit afraid of the cats or of us, either. I hate calling the animal warden but Jesus, Mary and Joseph! What else can I do? Anyway, it's not as if I haven't done my part for our four-legged pals this week. Patching up a sick cat is one thing, but tolerating this is quite another. There have been no reported cases of rabies in Ohio this year but I'm not interested in discovering the first!
Actually there has been one case but since it was me ( the day I got home from New Mexico and found the place in shambles), it's not considered "at large", so we never reported it. LOL |

Actually, I probably won't call the animal warden at all unless Jn extracts a promise from me to do so. I have a real "live and let live" soft spot, even though I know it's insane. We've lived in close proximity to skunks for years and, though we've had a cat or two get "bombed", they have generally caused no trouble. Actually, I keep hoping my son will come wandering home in the wee hours half pie-eyed and get blasted by Pepe Le Peu. Evil, evil, evil. |

Put Flower in a cage. Take Flower out for a boat ride on Lake Erie. The warden will come back cageless...and Flower-less. *cries*![]() Your son the car stealer has a skunk-spraying coming to him. Karma's a bitch.

If I thought there was even a reasonable chance that they would come and get my son and put him in a cage at the pound instead, I would call them, but you are right; I can't stand the thought of the skunks being hurt.
Last year J. made me promise to call the animal warden and I did. "City of Cleveland, Animal Control." "Hello, is this the Animal Warden's office?" "Yes? May we help you?" "Um, no. But thank you anyway." puzzled noise then *click* on the other end Husband comes home from work. "Did you call Animal Control today?" "Yes." "Good. I hate to do it, but it's for the best. Did they say when they will be here?" "No." He didn't want them to come out here any more than I did, and that was the end of it. ![]() |

I think the sensible solution is to move the cat food bowls.
I should run for President at this rate. LOL |

We could run for President and Vice President on the skunk platform.

Actually, the daughter is a good kid. She works hard in school, is responsible, is friendly and good-natured and fun to be with. Then there's Beelzebub The Younger..... |

"Ma," I said, puzzled, "what's this for? Christmas is...." "Never mind when Christmas is; I'm surprised you know! I just wanted the poor tykes to see that Jesus, Mary and Joseph were real people and not just something to screech when they crap their drawers, y'ignorant wee harridan." |
