He's one of the sneaky veterans now. One of those guys you have to watch out for. Anybody who's in their mid-forties and still on the ice is not only crazy, he's crafty. LOL.

I agree -- goalies are clinically insane. It's a job requirement.

Been on the blades for 30+ years as well.. My best friend is a goalie I sub'd in a couple of times.. Vulcanized rubber wired at your head.. not fun..
Actually playing net for a game or two as a forward gave me a bunch of new offensive ideas..
Nothing better than the first beer after the game.. That and the ice packs on the knees..!

I bought Mr. Spart a brain bucket with a cage and I make him wear it. I also had a personalized sweater made for him.

Yeah, that first beer after the game is apparently as necessary as protective equipment. LOL Mr. Spart isn't much of a drinker -- he gets giddy after more that two or three -- but after every game, they gotta have that beer.

Now he laughs at the antics of all the young guys. They go out after every Friday hockey, and he mostly just sits and listens. He says it's pretty funny from his vantage point to think about all the silly stuff he did and said when he was their ages.

Once in awhile somebody says to me, "Don't you get mad at him being gone three nights a week, etc.?" HELL no. He's married, not buried.

I know where he is, I know who he's with, I know they're just having fun, and I know that any reasonably attractive, halfway sane woman getting within fifty feet of them on the few nights they do go out is going to get the hell out of there. LOL

It's always funny when he comes home really, REALLY early and banged-up, though, gnawing furiously on a big bag of cheeseburgers and mysteriously quiet.

"Game misconduct, eh?"
