Anti Spam, and Anti Virus software advice - ZEFRANK.COM

I just recently got fed up with my McAfee virus software...it was hogging system resources, preventing me from performing Scan Disk functions and actually was starting to cause my comp to crash alot. So I uninstalled it and am looking for (hopefully free) alternatives.
Also I would like some kind of Anti Spam software...I have never used anything like that but I am getting sick of having to delete 35 junk emails each day.

Does anyone have any suggestions for easy to use, effective, stable (and hopefully free) software for Anti Virus/Spam?
