Zenbabe, I actually I'm Scottish on my mom's side and German/Dutch on my father's side. My husband is of Irish background. We have fun teasing each other about who can hold their liquor better. Usually the Irish end up carrying the Scottish home.
We honeymooned in Ireland and the UK. We looked like locals in Ireland until we spoke. I found in Scotland alcohol helped me to understand what the hell they were saying.

Now if you were a real woman as has been suggested on other threads, you would remember everything I said and have instant total recall, using it in arguments up to 7 years later.
Whereas if you are a guy, you would wake up the next day and only remember "what a great bloke that Dinzdale is".
When asked by someone,"well, what did you two talk about all evening?" you can say "Oh it was just secret guy stuff, you wouldnt understand."...and smirk.
