I like 1 the best, but If I were matting and framing it, I'd pick a simple black frame and a white mat with a black core.

The reason for the gold, as it shows up at my house, is the utter whimsy of having something that is intended to be so formal up against a wall that undoubtely holds up a room that is full of the antithesis of it. So, within the frame you have the same as the room. Totally non formal.
