I wake up in my bed. Sheets have pulled of the edges, and I am old, and alone. The window is pulled open and I can hear cars driving by and sirens in the distance. The room smells musty and damp, everything turns grey.

That’s not Neo. That’s Oldo van Moldo.
I saw Oldo recently, drinking coffee black and standing by the newspaper racks outside the post office. Yeah, he still lives alone. He is still working on that old ephemera, the bubble paintings and the moving portraits of smoke ring vortexes disappearing in the wind. What a waste of talent. Oldo doesn’t even have a computer. He can’t be Neo. |
