traditional wedding
Last weekend, I was a guest at a traditional Polish Wedding, in a town called Nysa, 15 km from the Czech Border.
![]() THe Polish have a nice tradition: After the official wedding, which takes place in the church (see pic), the couple are taken to the place where the wedding party (diner, dancing, lots of vodka) take splace. At the entrance, the parents of both couples await them, and offer them bread, salt an two glasses (one filled with water, one with vodka). The couple eat some of the bread with salt, and wash it away with the water or the vodka. The one who got the vodka, will have more influence/power within the relationship. The wedding took two days, after which I promised myself I will never touch vodka again. (until the next time of course) |

the first pic is an old pic of course, the church was completely destroyed by the germans. Now it looks like this:
![]() The church is special, because the roof is supposedly the steepest in europe... Last edited by weissenflatz : 08-18-2004 at 10:48 AM. |

Is the roof of the church red so that God can notice it better?

I'm going to a Vietnamese wedding this Saturday. I don't know how traditional it will be, but I'll report back here.

That's such a cool tradition! Who got the Vodka, Weiss??
BTW - I sympathize with you. I truly do.
