This was our baby. More than 300,000 showed up for the event. It was also the day he met Teresa Heinz. Earth Day brought me to him and Earth Day brought her to him. I feel that since we both met him through the same cause, perhaps she is a kindred spirit. (I applaud his choice.)

Perhaps she will remind him of the importance of that day. Our rich environmental resources made us wealthy as a nation; they need to be protected. We also need cancer-free water and air. Environmental pollutants are changing us as a species, especially the brains of developing children (maybe that's what happened to George W.) Our country needs to get back on track.
