How about creepy books?
In relation to the creepy movie thread, have any books creeped you out?
For me, it was Salem's Lot by Stephen King (one of my all-time favorite authors). The book scared the crap out of me (& I can usually handle scary books). After I read it, I saw commercials for the movie on tv, & refused to watch it. Although I suppose that if the movie sequel sucked, the first flick probably isn't as creepy as I thought. ![]() Pax, LC

I have read everything by Stephen King and Dean Koontz. Between the books and the Exorcist, it is no wonder I don't sleep well
The scariest book for me is Stephen King's "The Stand" because it seems plausible. And with all the talk of chemical weapons these days, it scares me even more ![]()

Read Zombie by Joyce Carol Oates.
Seriously deranged book. A friend loaned it to me a couple years ago. When I was finished and tried to return it she said to keep it because she didn't want "that thing" in her house. |

I read a ton but surprisingly enough I don't think I have ever read a single scarey book. I recently took out a couple of them from the library though:
The Girl Who Loved Tim Gordon By Stephen King Night Shift By Stephen King I'll come back when I have read them. ![]()

Scariest book I ever read was American Psycho, and not just for the overdone style. That book has the honour of having the only pages in a book that I have been unable to make myself read.

honestly... never really read a creepy book... if it starts feeling a little creepy I just start visuallizing it as a cartoon...kinda like the road runner ones... pretty hard to have a cartoon creep you out...
I find movies are always easier to get creeped out by because its imposing someone elses visualization of a story on you, you can't sugar coat it to protect yourself... |

I've read most of the Stephen King books.
Skeleton Crew has some wicked short stories that I still think of occasionally. The Mist was one of them. My room-mate when I was first on my own loved Stephen King and one story in particular freaked her out. It was called Flexible Bullet and revolved around this author who had little 'Fornits' living in his typewriter. They'd leave him messages. Well one day after I had moved out. Another friend and I went to her house when she wasn't there. I used my finger to write "Fornits some Fornus" on her bathroom mirror. (The oil on your finger will not show up right then, but if you add steam, the writing will not fog up and is clearly visible.) She called me later to say that she freaked out when she got out of the shower the next morning. ![]()

Dean Koontz and Stephen King write similar books and kind of look alike. Well, they both have that creepy look in their eyes.
