Surely drinks and a movie would be ok?

How long did it take you before you dated again after a significant relationship ended?

I think I'm just looking for the distraction.

Date, do whatever you want...have a ton of fun with your girlfriends, new friends, boy toys, yourself. Don't go on boring dates. Take yourself on dates to places or to movies that no one else wants to go to. Have as much fun as you want, don't justify your behavior to anyone as long as you feel good about what you're doing, you're the only one who has any right to judge/question your actions.

In addition to this, remember to treat your heart extra special.

totally go! Your going to have a rebound, so it might as well be this guy right? You should go out and have fun as much as possible....don't over analize everything...just have some fun!

but somewhere in there, make sure the guy understands all of that. i mean, i agree with everyobody's advice... just make sure you don't end up with anyone looking for a long term thing.

dating? no no no no, meanlingless dirty loud sloppy sex for a weekend with someone you like but do not want anything long term with. after that you get your brain back and can sanely consider dating options
