how should I cook my steak?

So, I bought a slab of hanger steak from the store. I'm really new at cooking meat, especially red meat. I'd like to do something simple to it with some herbs. The meat department man suggested pan searing it, then tossing it in the oven and cooking it medium rare.

Any other suggestions? Remember, simple is better!!
