Excellent! A lending advisor with Biblical values! Now, is this the Old Testament or the New? 'Cause I wanna know if defaulting means I get a plague of boils, or they turn the other cheek and forgive seven times seven times seven.

This is great! This way, every month, you can say: "Jesus Christ! The mortgage is due!"

Hey, we Judeo_Christians stick together!

Break bread, have communion, mortgage homes, etc.

There is not a lot we don't do.

In fact, American busineses really should be catering in all religeons in all areas of business service if we are a capitalist society.

Muslim carpet layers, Jewish computer bug fixers, Buddist movers, Atheistic pet shops.

There should be a specific genre to fit your need for everything.

If you think about it, wouldn't you like to deal with people that have your same frame of mind? Wouldn't that make for more intimate coversation if you knew you could ask them," Hey, how went your reading of the Torah?"

No. I prefer diversity.

Yes, but you get diversity randomly from the man on the street when you by fate become thrown into juxtaposition.

I find strength comes and relationships build faster and truer when I have deep things in common with people I come in contact with.

I *love* diversity, but find that that foundational issues arise contrary/in tandem intrinsic in the fabric of our shared belief system when we are to undertake a joint task.

Things work more smoothly/ communication and so forth when I can understand the thinking process of one that believes like me.

I might not come across as clear as I am thinking. Am I?

Look, I understand how difficult it is to declare yourself Christian in public, and I do respect that. It's difficult to declare any belief system publicly, let alone one as riddled with inconsistency as Christian faith.

I imagine that when people seek out things like "Christian mortgage providers" they are looking for the reassurance that they won't be questioned or made to feel uncomfortable should they bring up something faith-related. In truth, it is extremely difficult to imagine anything intrinsically, exclusively, and/or specifically Christian about any aspect of mortgage provision, unless we resort to the ridiculous stuff I mentioned in my first message.

I am possibly the biggest cheerleader for the free market that you'll ever meet, but I find it dishonest when vendors cloak their wares in garb that is really doing nothing other than attempting to pull the wool over the consumer's eyes. I experience it as enormously cynical in terms of underestimating the intelligence of the consumer ("Oh! A Christian vendor! They must be honest! Where do I sign?")

And honestly, I prefer to find out what deep issues I share in common with people by getting to know them experientially, not via declaration. By the same token, if I talk to someone after reading their chart rather than before I read it, my presuppositions based on what I've read will colour my interactions. I'd rather hear it from the horse's mouth, in detail, not shorthand. I'm a detail freak.

Thou shalt not lend upon usury to thy brother; usury of money, usury of victuals, usury of anything that is lent upon usury. (Deuteronomy 23:19).

wonder if that is why my dentist gave me a 12 month interest free payment plan on my crown work?? This is old testament, right?

Trisherina,

Excellent points.

Many businesses throw on the religeous name to garner a special market and hopefully unwarranted trust as well.

Honestly, it really shouldn't be hard for someone to broadcast something they believe in, especially in America. I mean, what kind of persecution could we possibly have here- a snicker?

Most American Midwestern Christians are lame. Dinz, you are not allowed to reword what I said and take out the three adjectives preceeding !!

Maybe if my brothers and sisters in my faith would be more united in mind and more active in deed- not so combative and quick to dismiss others different, we'd have a different world view being presented of us.

*Taking back banner of coolness from the Christian Mortgage Company*

I think I'd prefer more of a secret Judeo-Christian name, like my post-name Joppa_gal. If you are a Bible reader, you know it, if you aren't, then it's just some word.

Just stamping Christian does seem like a cry for *let me take all your money while you lay wide eyed and prayerful*.

I took joppa-gal as a reference to a place of tolerance.

Not enough of that going around, present company excepted.

so I guess he's over the whole "moneychangers defiling my father's house" thing?
... and they must only lend to the poor and downtrodden? "whatsoever you do to the least of thy brothers, you do unto me"
... plus, what about "forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors"

"gosh, Mr Christian Mortgage guy, I forgive you for holding my house hostage"
"gee, that's nice of you, I forgive your loan"
