What I did this weekend/Coffee has stuff to sell.

Sorry for the commercial message. But this is what I did this weekend...make hats. I am going to try selling them either through ebay or to local stores (although if I sell to local stores I will only get a lousy wholesale price for them ...which is hardly worth my time making em).
I'd like to offer them to you Monkeys first in case any of you would be interested in wearing a Coffee's Custom Hat or Bag.

Hat #1:
There are 2 Available; One is size 23 5/8 inches and the other is size 22 inches (measuring around widest part of head/crown in Inches).

Hat #2 (my favorite):
It has a glossy deep dark green fabric that has brown markings that look vaguely like Islamic writing...It has a gold satiny liner material.
1 available now in size 22 1/2...And I have a good amount of material left and can custom make one for your size if you like it.

Hat #3 One available in size 22 5/8 ... Dark blue suit liner material inside...has a shield motif on liner material.

One bag for sale too. It measures (inside dimensions) 6.5 X 9 inches.

I can also make custom hats or bags. If you don't see anything that you like here...but would like something in a different color...let me know and I'll look trough my bags of fabrics and see what I have on hand...or shop the thrift stores to find something like what you want...let me know.

Bottom line: How much?
Hats or Bag $45.00 ea. Edit...Prices reduced...see below for the webpage I made for this stuff.

They are unique and well made. They are made from upholstery fabric found at local thrift stores. There is NO Chance that anyone will be wearing the same hat anywhere near you.

What do you think? Too much? Too little. Comments? Suggestions? To Ebay or not to Ebay?

Wholesale is the downside of being a craftsperson.

Have you tried eBay or a web page yet? eBay is a tough way to make a living but a good way to get started building a customer base.

Good luck -- they are really nice work.

Ya...cuz if two similar items of clothing get too close to each other (outside of the store that sells them, of course) they explode causing collatoral damage to all clothing within a 15 foot radius...not a pretty sight.

Dinz, is that some kind of slanderous remark about my clothing?

Cmon Dinz...You know you are just dying to break out of the "I'm unique, I wear Nike Products" trap.

You would look great in one of my hats, all the lovely hippie chicks would be soo impressed with your self confidence if you wore a Coffee hat...you KNOW you want one...you can do it Dinz.

I recomend the Champaigne with White Liner for you.
Or perhaps a custom Wool Herringbone fabric to retain some of your conservative look while breaking out of the box a bit.

After you have loosened up a bit we will find you a nice handbag

No, the bastards, but you are allowed to mention it in your "About Me" page. You'll see when you register.

And once you get some buyers, often they will be repeat customers and tell their friends, which helps.

Where's the Potholders?

I find that, as an owner of one of your Mits, that I prefer it over any others, as it fits my hand, less of the mit goes in the food that way, and it insures a firmer grip on whatever i'm grabbing. I would like to see a selection on this thread. It is one of my favorite kitchen items, and I have a few Mits, but none like this. Bravo, Coffee.

Thanks Audrey
But I don't think I can make mitts or pot holders fast enough to be able to sell them for what anyone would be willing to pay for them. It takes me around an hour and a half if I really concentrate and stick to it making one of my hats, bags, or even oven mitts. Sure they are far better than a normal oven mitt (I use mine all the time and can hold a hot cast iron skillet while scooping stuff out of it for almost a minute before I start feeling the heat)...but anyone looking at them and comparing them to the 5 dollar batting stuffed normal oven mitts would pass mine by in a second.
I'm also realizing that I am asking too much for my hats and bags if I really hope to sell any. Considering that one can buy a hat or bag made by exploited third world workers for a price that would pay me about 5 - 7 bucks an hour if I sold my stuff for the same...sigh...reality sucks. I need an angle to justify charging more...perhaps I can claim to be an ARTIST and these are not hats and bags but wearable Objects D' Art...pffft.

This is why sometimes being an arteest just sucks. I always price my stuff by deciding at what price i'd like to slash my wrists, then put a few dollars on, and most of the time, I can't make nobody happy. It just seems to me that in the last year, it's become like 35% harder to make a living. I know we can't go back to that $1.50 gallon of gas, but damn. Things that are made by a real person paying real bills should be appreciated by somebody, but they're not, usually. And I'd rather be dead than stand outside all day at an art show havin people tellin me how wunnerful i am. Freakin buy something then! what you goanna do. i dunno.

thats another option i'm considering...paying fees to display stuff at a street faire/art faire. But then I'm worried I'll have to let stuff go at Slash Wrist prices to cover fees if it is looking like a "no sale" day. However If I could hook up with someone else and split booth costs and share space, that could be a good option.

Shades of the trade show I paid $500.00 to attend with my t-shirt stuff...which ended up costing me another 1.5 thou to print most of my designs to cover the few of orders I got there...I'm still sitting on stock and have yet to cover costs. *dumb dumb dumb*

I finished my webpages for this stuff.

http://home.pacbell.net/ggraphix/wearableart.htm

also I made a page to sell custom roasted Coffee.
