Almost the best day ever
Yesterday, I get to work around 1:30pm. Then, the head tech guy tells me to go to the Voodoo Fest with two people that are already going and that he'll cover for me. I leave location around 3:45pm to go see The Pixies and Beastie Boys.

I got paid for the day! I am guaranteed 7 days of pay even if I do not work 7 days. The tech department usually tries to kick ass at each location so we get one day off each week. The last day of shoot weeks usually kill us. We have to wrap out everything at location as soon as the shooting is wrapped then wrap out everything at the hotel and organize it for travel. We usually finish everything between 10pm-12:30am after starting work at about 6-7am. We then have to catch a bus to the airport for a 7am flight or so. Depending on where our next location is, I get a couple of hours of sleep on the plane before landing. I then head out to location and help finish setting up the location.

Naturally, we try and take the day after we travel off. 16 hour days and a few hours of sleep on that last day call for it.

my friend laughs at the beastie boys. he was saying to me how they should go home and clean their dentures. thats an infamous phrase now, because at school we saw some late 30-ish types of people and he screamed at them, GO HOME AND CLEAN YOUR DENTURES! he insists they didnt hear him but im pretty sure they did.
