Dad
My dad cracks me up. He worked in the theater for years at the university in my hometown. He was the technical director and sometimes the director (the director of the plays was always drunk and my dad would have to run the show) of the plays.
He also directed the local community theater plays. What a thankless job. At any rate, he got roped into a role, he just agreed to do it without seeing the script. The community theater told him it was just a small part, and that is true, not a lot of lines, but he is on the stage for two out of the three acts, and he has to be in his underwear. I asked my dad if it is going to be boxers or tightie whites. He hopes for boxers. The play is called "Escanaba in Da Moonlight." Great play. I asked my dad "Dad, why did you agree to do this without knowing what your part was?" He said " Well, I would not have agreed to do it, if there was anyone directing besides Doc" That made me laugh because Doc was the drunken director he use to work with. Ha, at 67 my dad is still a little naive. Maybe that is where I get it. |
