Advise me please
Ok here is the thing.
Thursday I go to Toronto for a conference. Doctors and other medical professionals gather for a conference regarding an illness, its treatments etc.. There is a dinner to welcome us at the CN tower. Then back to the hotel. The next day the conference. What the heck am I supposed to wear? I have to shop. I am a uniform or comfy clothes person. I have nothing. Has anyone gone to one of these before? What did you wear? The woman coming with me is the Doctor's wife. She is coming to keep me company. I don't have dress clothes. Please advise. From head to toe. Walmart? or the mall? What about the dinner? Crap I feel so uncouth!

Kmart.
Riders Khaki's. They are the bestest pants you will ever own. Riders black dress pants, too. Black flats or boots. They have sweaters, dressier shirts, too.

Can I wear the same pants to the dinner and the conference?
Or would some people notice?

Some people might notice, but since it's a conference, I think it's perfectly acceptable.
With your hair & makeup, err on the side of conservative.

Depends on what you are comfortable in, that is half the battle.
You can buy very cheap, but nice looking clothes at Walmart. I would wear either a black skirt or slacks. A white shirt. If you wear a skirt, choose sheer nylons. Conservative low heels. You can get these at Payless for about 10 bucks. During the day, if you have long hair, pull your hair back into a low pony tail. If it is short, try to slick it back. For night wear, you can wear the same bottom, but I would wear a red blouse or some frilly shirt that goes well with black. I would also switch to dark hose if you are wearing a skirt. You are not uncouth! Good luck, and let us know how it goes. No one will notice the same bottoms darling. Quote:

'dite, I've been to lots of these things. Pack light. People won't notice that much what you wear -- only that you are well-rested, paying attention, and not too harassed-looking. You can easily get away with wearing the same dress pants to the dinner and the conference. For the dinner, dress up, and for the conference, emphasize comfort because often the chairs have little to offer. Low boots that are darker than or the same colour as the pants will take you to both.
If you decide to go to Wal-Mart, a casual shirt with a collar for the conference. Something more eye-catching for the dinner. Long sleeves so you won't have to worry about the heating or lack thereof.

deffinatly go for something comfy, there's no pointin looking dazzling if you're going to be fidgeting all evening because your dress keeps riding up or something. Black trousers & smart comfy shoes sound good, then you can have a bit more fun with the top, something a bit dressier for the dinner. If you feel self confident & relaxed enough people will hardly even notice what you're wearing.

What they said. And nice jewellery if you have any, helps to dress up a plain outfit.

i live about 6 blocks from the CN tower. i know the exact restaurant you are going to be dining in... they have 20 dollar house salads there, and the restaurant literally revolves at a slow pace in a circle around the tower.
although its high priced, its not that fancy, a lot of ugly tourists go there. |

Hey you sharp dressed woman!
Not sure if you have a Target near you but... I have the pieces below and amazed at the quality, cut and value. The pants are seriously comfy, wash like a dream and make your butt look good The ribbed top is rayon/nylon and has pretty shine to it - it comes in 8 colors (I love this top so much I bought 4). There is also a skirt available in this pinstripe. For the price, the pants and jacket are pretty versatile (dress up or dress down) and look sharp. When I wear this stuff to court, I look better than my attorney heh. Just a thought...Pants $24.99, Jacket $24.99, top $14.99 - Target's Merona brand. ![]() ![]()
