should your significant other in life, be just that, your significant other?
............or should they also be your best friend.

The difference being, your sig. other is your lover.. your meant-to-be. Your best friend is there to understand you, and know when you're in a bad mood just by how you walk into the room. Pick up subtle hints and act on them. Talks to you when you ask for a conversation. That sort of thing.

Can they be the same thing - ? or is this, in this over populated life, too three dimentional to obtain.

I dont believe in the end all/be all soulmate thing. I think there are hundreds of people that you are compatable with on this planet, maybe even thousands. I think it is all a matter of timing, when you are ready for it, and actually meeting the person.

I do believe that you can be best friends with your partner, whether it be a SO, spouse, bf or gf...whatever.

I would say that J is definatly a best friend of mine and know that no matter what, if I ever just needed to talk, no matter what time, night or day, he would be there for me, and the other way around.

She is out there JT, don't lose hope yet.

If Mr. Spart were not my very good friend, there is no way we would put up with each other's bullshit when the sex was over.

I mean, who else would put up with my yelling and swearing at the baseball on TV all summer? Or his leaving his goddamn smelly hockey cup (and I don't mean Stanley) on the dryer? Or my trying to belch the National Anthem ("No -- wait! I got the first few bars! No shit!") Or his pruning the roses right when they are getting ready to bloom? Or my taking off to see friends 700 miles away and sticking him with a houseful of teenagers? Or his going skiing for a week with his hockey pals just when the winter blues are about to drive me round the bend? Or his garlic breath? Or my cabbage farts? Or.....

Definitely should be your best friend. I plan to marry for life, and when I'm no longer interested in sex, I'd better damn well be able to have a good conversation.

When I said I wasn't for sleeping with your friends, I meant just that. I never meant that your lover couldn't be your friend; there is a difference.

My husband is my best friend in life. We have as much common ground as we do differences. It is a second marriage for both of us and we did not enter into it lightly. I got the better end of the bargain and I am not afraid to admit it. I married up, to be sure.
With him, there is balance to my life I would not have otherwise. I will take every moment I can get with this man.
