Thanksgiving
It's almost here, so I've prepared a little questionnaire...
I'll start it off. 1.) Do you celebrate Thanksgiving? If so, proceed... Yep. 2.) What are your plans for Thanksgiving - who are you spending it with and where are you going? I'm doing the usual - driving up to my parents house a couple of days before and spending Thanksgiving with them. My brother, wife, niece, and new niece will be flying over from Illinois, and my sister will be coming from Santa Ynez. 3.) What's your favorite thing about Thanksgiving? Having my entire family get together, which isn't often. 4.) What's your least favorite thing about Thanksgiving? The bullsh!t, idealistic history behind Thanksgiving. I'm sure the Native American's are really enthusiastic about celebrating "Thanksgiving." 5.) Do you usually do the cooking or make anything to contribute to your Thanksgiving dinner? Eek. No. My Gramma usually takes over the kitchen and makes everything. Oh! I do cut the vegetables for the vegetable tray. And I usually buy the beer (lol). My official job for Thanksgiving preparation is setting the table. I even refer to my Emily Post manual to do it, so it comes out all spiffy-like. 6.) What's your favorite dish/food at Thanksgiving? Since I'm a vegetarian, my favorite dish is the vegetarian stuffing my Mom always makes especially for me. She's done that for me since I was 15 years old! 7.) What is one of your favorite Thanksgiving memories? A few years ago, when my Mom had me bring a couple of friends to Thanksgiving who didn't have anyone to spend it with. |

1.) Do you celebrate Thanksgiving? If so, proceed...
yes. my brother and i usually eat at my mom's and then go over to my dad's the next day. 2.) What are your plans for Thanksgiving - who are you spending it with and where are you going? my mom just moved into a new house with a covered patio, so my brother and i are going to spend it with her. i'll be unpacking my old stuff into my room in there. 3.) What's your favorite thing about Thanksgiving? getting to read and relax by myself without any pressure. my brother acting weird. 4.) What's your least favorite thing about Thanksgiving? this depends on my mom. if she's happy, then nearly everything is great. when she's unhappy, she's asking my brother and I for advice and not listening to anything we say. also, i hate gravy because it's just disgusting. the word 'giblet' 5.) Do you usually do the cooking or make anything to contribute to your Thanksgiving dinner? depends on what we're having. i always rinse off my dishes, place them in the dishwasher. i make jokes and interesting insights. 6.) What's your favorite dish/food at Thanksgiving? cranberry sauce. 7.) What is one of your favorite Thanksgiving memories? it's just like a regular day for us with more food. when it snowed. |

What's the matter with you? Free food that someone else cooked is VERY exciting. Unless it comes from a mission kitchen.

In an ordinary year, we would all cook, then meet at my brother's restaurant for the dinner.
But, since this is the first year since my brother's death, we have all opted for lowkey and separate Thanksgivings. I am not cooking. I made a turkey and all the accoutrements last week. I am making desserts as company will be straggling by later in the day. Other wise, I see a day of lounging and watching awful movies on TV ![]()
