The Yellow Rose of the Republic (communal iambic heptameter)
Ok all y'all. Lets get a little crazy.
Iambic heptameter [shock] [whine] aww... c'mon use your brain a little here Emily Dickinson is probably the most prolific user of this type of verse Because I could not stop for Death, He kindly stopped for me; The carriage held but just ourselves And Immortality. We slowly drove, he knew no haste, And I had put away My labor, and my leisure too, For his civility.[...] many more examples at http://academic.brooklyn.cuny.edu/en...son.html#poems My own meager attempt in this realm from JT's kitten thread: Today I hit a kitten with my cold and cunning car the paint was unaffected nor the finish did it mar Poor infant feline called by Death by mine own hands depart and live again a'dumpstered back behind this grey Wal Mart The fun thing about these poems is that they all can be sung to the tune of "Glory glory hallelujah" or "The Yellow Rose of Texas" or many of the hymns in most church's hymn books. So! Lets give it a shot, shall we? Add as many lines as you feel inspired to contribute...
