For a bit of nostalgia mixed in with a red-lit backdrop go to the Delux Bar . It's located in the South End of Boston. Rather hip, but not pretentious. You'll find last year's Xmas tree still perched on the bar (it's actually been there for years!), cool record sleeves from the 50's-today decorating the walls, and the pleasant aromas of tasty kibbles emanating from the tiny kitchen that's behind the bar. This is where all the cool kats go.
For a little something darker, grittier, but with a 50's diner feel, then you must go to Charlie's Kitchen in Harvard Square, smack dab in the middle of Cambridge. Punkers, Harvard Profs, artists, and other sorts gather at this watering hole. I can guarantee you will meet someone interesting in this place. However, don't get this place confused with the place of the same name in Boston. They are worlds apart. Enjoy! Case |
