I don't let myself "show up" for the reasons already listed.
I don't like to announce myself, if I have something to say I'll post, and if I walk away from th ecomputer for two hours but leave the browser "parked" on zefrank.com, I don't want people to think I am "igging" them if I don't respond promptly to their posts or PM's. As for all the IM services, I don't even know why I have the software, since I am always on as "invisible" and never use them. I always have them on, though. I must be expecting David Bowie or Richie Sexson or Brendan Shanahan to pay private detectives to find me so they can just pop up on my screen one fine evening and say "Hi, what are you wearing?" or "Whatcha doin'?"
