Christmas is Cancelled

Christmas is Cancelled

Quote:
After reviewing “separation of church and state” issues, we have come to the conclusion that Christmas is hereby canceled. The government has recognized the people’s cries for full enforcement of the law, and therefore will no longer recognize Christmas. All city parades, mayoral tree lighting, city property decorations, and Christmas music will be removed from city grounds.

Along with canceling Christmas, all “religious symbols” will be removed from public, city, and government property. All religions will be taken into consideration. These symbols include, but are not limited to: crosses, statues, monuments, references to any gods, deities, and possible words that can be misconstrued as deities. People are earnestly requested not to crowd together unnecessarily under any circumstances. This refers especially to gatherings for purpose of fellowship. Gatherings of more than three unrelated people will be asked to disperse.

All public schools, cinemas, theaters, coffee shops and other places of educations and entertainment are to be closed immediately until further notice. Sports gatherings and all gatherings of entertainment and amusement, whether outdoor or indoor, which involve large numbers congregating together are prohibited until further notice.

I was fine with it till they said coffee shops would be closed. That's getting a little extreme.

it's wierd to make them by myself...one of my fav memories is being in the kitchen with my great grandma, grandma, and mom making tamales from sun up to sundown. we would do it every year around this time.

I love that you are carrying on the tradition even without them there.

Sounds yummy.

i'm making mine kosher ... no lard. they won't be as good, cuz there is nothing like gobs of pig fat to give food flavor, but they will have to do. i'll have to make it up in cheese and spicy-ness...hahaha.

goat cheese and mint sounds goood. trader joes has some *really* good veggie ones too. blue corn something or rathers. yum.

My grandmother makes wonderful tamales and mexican food. She even has two ovens because she cooks so much.

how many are you making and who are you making them for? good luck, let us know how they turn out.

mmm...homemade mexican food is the best.

i'm starting off with a few dozen as a test round and if they are okay i'll make the usual ten million kazillion. there are probably tamales from like 1980 in my parents freezer i'm sure. i guess the rule is to make enough for a small army.

if they turn out well, tamales are going to be my x-mas presents. daverbee is already getting a batch for sure

That is so cool. Such a nice picture. This may be the first thing I've heard all season that was even remotely heartwarming. I love the whole idea.
