Maybe this should be in the Debate Hall, but if it gets that bad, Ze can move it.
Ethical or unethical? Someone at work was fired earlier this week. There had been a few "occurrences" with this person. He was one of those guys who ran hot & cold. Some days I would say hi & he would say hi back, other days, he would just look at me. Maybe he is hard of hearing. Who knows. This is the one who was reprimanded for hitting on the receptionist. He asked her out 3 times in one day. I told my supervisor about it, laughingly, and she told his boss. They all got pulled into a meeting & he was told to treat D more professionally, and that asking someone out more than once is considered sexual harrassment. The dept he worked for, the ladies & B, my 18 y/o piece of eye candy would refer to this person him w/a roll of the eyes, etc. So I hear that he was fired. I ask why, because being creepy is not any reason to fire anyone. ![]() I guess something just didn't sit right w/one of the higher ups, who grabbed his HR folder & did an internet search on him, on the court systems. Shortly afterward, management came running up to the front to ask how soon his keycard coud be disabled, and he was then escorted out. Now my question for you fine people is this: Is it ethical to accept a resume &/or job application from someone, and then use the info provided to do a thorough background search, including searching the courts systems in the surrounding states, and the federal courts, if necessary? In this day & age, should anyone be hired w/o going HR through those steps? I know what I think, but will post that later. Your thoughts? eta I felt bad for getting him in trouble, but D thanked me & said she needs to stand up for herself more & was glad I told someone. I just told J b/c I thought it was funny, kinda like "can you beeleeeeve that nerd asked her out?" I was not aware he was on probation.
