in edinburgh where i grew up we'd always see "indigo blue" - a harmless guy who dressed in blue everything and pushed a blue wheelbarrow around as he walked with an unearthly tiptoeing gait which i can never forget - on busy saturdays he'd go about shouting at the top of his voice incessantly: "indigo blue indigo blue I'M INDIGO BLUE!!!!" sometimes he'd be standing in the middle of one particular large traffic island waving his arms like a demented traffic policeman - everyone just smiled - he was okay
now in london these days is the tentacle man - he walks around in a big raincoat and trilby hat with a 30ft length of rubber hose draped over his shoulders and trailing out behind him - you see him down by the river a lot - he has a stern expression but i think he's okay too describe people you've seen around your town who seem to be living in/with/through their own constructed reality |
