what about contrived?
it is both depressing and informative but only if you read between the lines. are you getting lots of coverage about the appalling events in uzbekistan in the us? i thought not.

Actually, I was surprised at how much coverage we are getting from Uzbekistan. However, the headlines downplay the seriousness of it mostly due to the fact their leader is strongly pro-US.
