Being a good developer doesn't exclude you from ADHD symptoms. A good part of the time people with ADHD are hyperfocusing on something: missing sleep, mastering a skill, obsessing. Unfortunately, it isn't always what you're supposed to be focusing on, so the obsession appears as distraction from day to day expected tasks. There are a lot of fine applications written by one guy on a three day overfocusing bender.

(And I bought my first house with the proceeds of some of those fine applications.)

As one who teaches kids, take it from me:

EVERY STINKIN' ONE OF THEM has A.D.D. As for ADHD or AHDD or DAHD or whatever is shiny objects strewn on the floor or taped to the walls. Or a generous dose of cough syrup.

Or something that keeps up to their sensation needs: other children, an adult hopped up on coffee or something stronger, or TV.
