Thumbs up The Gloriousness of Coffee (the drink)

And our very own Coffee, too.

I'm not an avid coffee drinker; maybe 4-5 times a year. But this morning, after working for the past 7 days straight & having late nights for the past 3 nights, my energy level was waaaaay down (& I knew I needed a pick-me-up that was legal). Thankfully, there's a Dunkin Donuts right next door to work. So around mid-morning, I went over & got a medium hazlenut iced coffee.

My verdict (as I'd never had iced coffee before)? Mighty damn tasty.

It made for the rest of the day to go by a lot quicker that usual. Maybe I should get one every day.

Thanks for reading my coffee chronicles. Do you have coffee stories to share w/us?

Pax,
LC

Coffee makes me normal. I'm worthless without it. If I drink too much of it, I stutter and get tunnel vision and feel kind of sick. I have an espresso maker at home and I'm on autopilot until I drink my espresso. I like how it wakes me up quick. One minute I'm still drowsy and could fall right back into bed and as soon as I've finished my coffee, I feel normal. I love it.

Back when I was drinking about a pot of coffee a day, it actually made me sleepy (!) and I was told that it was suppressing my adrenaline production. I started feeling better after I switched to green tea for a couple of years, but I'm back on coffee again because my boss has an automatic espresso maker that grinds the beans fresh with every cup. It's so delicious.
The way it smells is even better.

China is barbaric: they aren't into coffee here. At a cafe, one stinking cup of the real stuff costs about 4 bucks Canadian/$3.60 US. A 630 mL bottle of beer from the store costs 23 cents Cdn/18-19 cents US.

One cup of Colombian coffee= about 10 litres of beer! Apparently China likes her foreigners to be irritable, groggy and drunk.

I buy little packets of Nescafe instant, w/ powdered milk and sugar included. They're horrid, and I have to use 2 packets at a time to get any kick at all, but any port in a storm.

Back home I despised starbucks as a monocultural virus on the world landscape, but in Beijing I ran to it like a starving refugee.

Stand the spoon up in it.

Trish and Zaf will testify to it.

OMG I am never going to China.

I've been trying to give it up for almost 10 years, at Dr's request. When Dr kisses my ass @ my request, I will give up coffee.

^^^Huzzah.

Thanks for the props LC

I only drink one, or occasionally, 2 cups a day...but they are rocket fuel. I use about 50% more coffee than is typically called for. Store bought or coffee shop coffee always tastes like water to me.

If you really enjoy coffee...you should at least check in to what is involved in roasting your own. It's really quite easy after a brief learning curve.
Better coffee for 1/2 the price or less, and you can have a different coffee every day, custom blends...oh nvm...see url below if your interested.
