Oh Evil Me
I have taken matters more seriously with the Mclouds. I am calling the police, everytime they make a scene ( the other neighbors are calling too).
My house is going to go up for sale next Friday. The real estate agent came over last night when the rental house was in full swing. Loud music, screaming and yelling and what not. She looked at me and said "I hope this is not going on during your open house." I woke up this morning feeling quite helpless about it. So, I called the police department, and they reassured me evey time these farkers disturb me, they will be there. I had to call them around 1:00 in the morning last night. The minute I called the police, the music stopped. They must have a scanner. But, the police had two cruisers on the block watching the house. The next idea I had was calling the landlord. I called the city appraiser and the treasurer, and the address they had for the landlord, was for the rental, and he does not live there. So, I got mad. So, I called the city inspector, and she was very interested in the fact that the house is not registered with the city as a rental. She is sending out inspectors, and fining the landlord. At first I felt bad about it, and then I thought to myself "He is renting this house out to anyone, and these people are ruining my chances at selling my house, screw him" Besides him having to go through these inspections, and the fines, he will have to go through criminal court because he failed to register his house as a rental. Then, I called my neighborhood association, and the woman I talked to was cool. She is going to find the landlord's address and send him a letter. I asked her what good that would do, and she told me that they would ride his butt until he did something about it. So, I have done all that I can do. It feels good not to feel so helpless anymore. |

The city inspector was so cool. She said that at any time I wanted to know how the case was going to call her. |

Good for you. It's amazing what you can do if you go through the proper channels instead of fuming silently or exploding ineffectually. All sorts of things get done, and you get respect. It's a nice feeling.
Don't lose your focus, either. They had this coming, and you have a right to enjoy your home.

Yes, and it would also be sensible to try to remain as anonymous as possible with most of this.
Living in a college town for so long, I had to call the cops on my neighbors more than once. I always called, gave them the address of the problem house, description of the problem, etc., and when the dispatcher asked for MY name and phone number, I would give it to the dispatcher and add, "I'd prefer if you didn't give any information out about who lodged the complaint." The police were always more than happy to comply with my request. Besides, if there are that many people in and out, there's nothing worse than waking up with a car window or two bashed out in drunken retaliation. I've seen it happen way too many times. But good for you! |
