Name that dog, please

A friend and I just saw "Everything Is Illuminated," and agreed that the dog cast as Sammy Davis Jr Jr, the Seeing Eye Bitch, was brilliant in the role, and it reminded me of this other scene-stealing dog from about 15 years ago. We can both picture the dog perfectly, but for the life of us we cannot think of the movie (or anything about it). Can anyone remember? It was a medium sized, longish-haired black and white dog with one blue eye and one green one, and after the film came out, the dog became a major (if short-lived) celebrity, and appeared on all the talk shows and lots and lots of commercials.

Anyone? It's driving me nuts trying to remember.
