political platform wish list
1.) The FCC should require the network and cable channels ,that they regulate, set aside a certain number of hours of free commercial time for each presidential, congressional and state candidacy that can demonstrate their viability by showing a petition signed by 10,000 voters. We as Americans own the airwaves and cable bandwidth and license it to the networks via the FCC. If we "gave" a set amount to each candidate there would no longer be a need for multi-million dollar campaign funds and the accompanying tendency to pander to the rich or corporations.
2) I'd like to see the energy reserves globalized. Essentially remove them from their corporate ownership and put them under a global agency that would be subject to international scrutiny. This agency would be responsible for production,, refinement, and distribution. This would eliminate national squabbles over energy and promote more equitable global availability and pricing. 3. Stop selling weapons to other countries regardless of their current diplomatic relationship. It's hard to promote democracy when a change in leadership puts your own weapons in the hands of terrorists. It's also hard to end terrorism when the bombs that fall on impoversihed arab communities are labelled "Made in Fort Wayne, Indiana". Our government, our military, should be our only customer. Feel free to add your own planks - these were serious but they can be as silly as you're feeling. |
