Ouch! Yeowch! Cr@p! Yikes!

I scalded my right hand this morning.

I have been putting cold water on it, but it hurts so freaking bad I can hardly stand it!

If you are microwaving soup and it says three minutes, it might actually be too long! When I went to take the soup out, it kind of exploded from the container and coated my hand. More sloshed over my hand as I tried to quickly set it down, but yet keep it from dropping onto the carpet here at work.

Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

Thank you, Jasmina...I just can't believe how much the bastard hurts, no blisters or anything, just really red.

I looked up caring for scalds and burns online and it says nothing but cool water to sooth...

they make special burn ointment. Neosporin also has something in it to help with the pain.

If it makes you feel any better, I fell through our glass coffee table Tuesday night and cut my hand up.

It is hard to type.

Holy smokes, Zenbabe...How'd you do that? I hope you heal quickly...

Right now, a nice martini with extra olives would probably take the edge off this burn...

ah jeez - that's one of the worst pains... You try to wash dishes or take a shower the next day and you're all - "AAAA! Why does my hand hurt?"

If it hurts that bad and cold water isn't soothing - get a few layers of paper towels, wet them and put some ice inside. Hold it on the burned area 'til you can't stand the cold anymore, let your hand warm up a little, and repeat. This what I usually do, with no ill effects. Sometimes - if I do it quickly enough - it reduces the effect of the burn dramatically.
I hope you feel better soon. *smooch*

Thank you La la... the smooch helped.

I am doing the papertowel trick now. I think when I get to leave for the day, I'll stop and get some numbing 1st aid spray, too.

By the way, I look like a dork, typing with one hand, with my other hand down in a vase full of ice water.

My co-worker says this is what I experienced:

There's a product called Dermoplast an anestetic pain relief spray that I swear by. It numbs the area that hurts for quite awhile - you just keep reapplying as needed. I got a nasty fish hook impaled in my hand a few years. A neighbor had this spray, let me use it and then he took the hook with out me feeling it. It also has aloe and lanolin in it. I hope you can find it !!! Good luck!
