Hotter Than Hell... (NIN concert review)
... other than NIN, that is. The temp this past Sunday (06/18/06) had to be @ least 92 degrees w/2384782394% humidity; that made for a very uncomfortable time (as SPAC in Saratoga, NY is an outdoor arena). Thankfully water was available all over the place, so my friend & I stayed as hydrated as much as possible (being dehydrated sucks, in case you didn't know).
So my show was a few nights ago, & it was incredible. Peaches surprised me; she sounds better live than on recording (and it's inspiring me to give her music a 2nd chance). Bauhaus was good, & I'm really starting to get into their music now. What can I say about NIN that I haven't babbled about before? The show was incredible; I almost got knocked in the head by Trent's tamborine (which he threw into the audience; some lucky woman behind me got it), my friend & I got splashed by water from one of Trent's bottles that he also threw out into the audience, & I found a NIN guitar pic on the ground as we were leaving (which may or may not have been his, but I don't really care @ this point). Incidentally, my voice is quite hoarse; not as bad as last year, but I get a kick out of it just the same. Small moment of gloating: did I mention that we had 2nd row seats? ![]() The visuals were stunning; you'll enjoy them if go to a NIN show. Here's the songs I remember: (in no particular order) Somewhat Damaged (which NIN opened with) Gave Up Suck Reptile Something I can never have You know what you are? March of the Pigs Closer Head Like A Hole Into The Void Hand That feeds Help Me, I'm In hell Terrible Lie Burn Hurt Wish Only Non-entity (a new song that I hadn't heard before) There may have been other songs, but I don't remember what they are @ this point. I was a little disappointed that they didn't play Sin, Dead Souls or Get Down Make Love (which I'd heard they played @ a previous show; however, changing set lists isn't necessarily a bad thing). At one point, when everyone on stage is sweating to death (which we all were, really), Trent said, "It's ****ing hot up here!" Thanks for the bulletin, Captain Obvious. ![]() In case you're interested, here's a review of the show by some fool @ a local paper; I didn't appreciate his comment about NIN fans being surprisingly well-behaved (it was too frigging hot to act up; what did he expect us to do, set fire to the place???): http://www.timesunion.com/AspStories...storyID=492785 Despite the almost overwhelming heat, we had a great time (& I'd do it again in a heartbeat). Yours in NIN, LC ![]() To think that I was 30 feet away from Trent and the lovely vein in his left arm... drool. ![]()
