SPORTS RACERS (140)
I hope the interaction between Rocketboom and ZeFrank will continue....maybe take it to another level in some kind of
Days of Our Lives fashion or is that All My Children?
Posted by: fritz at April 28, 2006 01:46 PM
You are funny! Keep it up. I know, I know , SHIT! another new viewer. Damn!
Posted by: Karl at April 28, 2006 01:47 PM
Ze, I'm sorry about the hair crack. Had I seen your high school picture yesterday, I would have known that your current style is an improvment.
Posted by: Aimee at April 28, 2006 01:47 PM
Ze, your highschool hair is so...wow!
Posted by: John at April 28, 2006 01:48 PM
I'm in a cranky mood today too Ze. Don't feel bad. I'll try to think good thoughts for both of us. Have a wonderful weekend not thinking for us. Us, gus, bus.

technically there's no such thing as an "unquote" in saying "quote-unquote." supposed to say "end quote" but then it just sounds weird. wish i could watch the old archived shows.
Posted by: onehugeace at April 28, 2006 01:51 PM
You and Amanda should "get together"...

Posted by: breen at April 28, 2006 02:05 PM
no no! do not let this become a soap opera between the real deal and those who steal. i told you amanda just wanted you for your superior materials. but don't worry. we're here for you. we like you best. ps: nice hair cut
I tricked you. I'm already a "new" viewer and you didn't even have a chance to freak me out. Yet.
I have an idea for someone design-inclined: a SportsRacer logo using a photo of a duck when it's dipping its head into a shallow lake in order to scrounge around the filth at the bottom of said lake for tasty morsels. All passersby can see from the shore is a duck tail and two orange legs flapping about.

you didn't show them my power move :(
great show as ever though ^_^

Bring back the archives! I like flipping through them once in a while. It give me something to do at work.

Perhaps it´s just that I´m jealous, but I see no chemistry between you two.

Posted by: radar at April 28, 2006 02:17 PM
Ze! How long does it take you to think up this "ze-ny" stuff? I'm guessing it ranges from a few nanoseconds to "maybe" three minutes. You probably don't have much more "time" than that with which to work since being a "New Yorker" must be quite demanding.
Posted by: mdj at April 28, 2006 02:17 PM
Good power move Leo.
Hey Max, that Rocketboom lady is just amateur hour. You da real shiznit.
Sure is a frenzy of pooping on this show.

sorry your night sucked..don't be grouchy--it's Friday for craps sake.
oh damn..gotta take my duckie for a poop.
the video game industry actually made a googleplex last year. I feel I need to correct you on this fact.

That rocketboom site is further proof that women just aren't funny, no matter how hard they try. I'd still do her, though.
Posted by: Pete at April 28, 2006 02:37 PM
I hope this RB/theshow cross-chat doesn't turn into another of those Brooklyn-Manhattan things.
You've each got your niche and you each play them for all they are worth.
When I found you both I killed my TV.
Um, I mean, it died all by itself. Really.

Hey sports racers, there's lots of cool stuff here:
including Atheist in the games section to the lower right.
Ze didn't just become funny in 2006. There's been something funny about Ze for a long time.
Posted by: Dinah at April 28, 2006 03:06 PM
I have to say you're getting a bit anal....eventhough you and Amanda are becoming the "duckiest" couple in vlog world.
have a poopy weekend
P.S. I think think the shit smeering thing is more obvious than the hand washing. But then that's me.

Posted by: francisco at April 28, 2006 03:10 PM
I think that this comment section is doomed to become one of those places where people attempt to make the first post after a new video. Only for the sake of bragging about the fact that they got the first post.
Either that or a place where they spam pointless and non-sequiter comments just to get mentioned on your show.
Posted by: wandering_nomad at April 28, 2006 03:29 PM
Just have to give a big thank you for providing the much needed, humor and quality entertainment for my day. By the way your intelligence is so sexy, haha keep it up.

A long lost friend of mine saw your show today and heard my name. He called me and we're getting married now. Thanks ze.
Posted by: jasmine at April 28, 2006 03:38 PM
Poop! I tell ya Ze, you just get funnier everyday. Have a good weekend. Also, if you like duckies so much, why don't you just get one as a pet? You could keep it in the bathtub.
Posted by: LongGoneSquab at April 28, 2006 03:58 PM
oh, ze! funny, funny. you can blame ROCKETBOOM that i found your show. :)
Posted by: Matilda Riot at April 28, 2006 04:03 PM
Wow. You're like John Stewart only more reliably entertaining. Also, you don't have ads for cars ("Professional driver. Closed course.") or beer ("Enjoy ____ responsibly."). Good stuff.
Posted by: Mahalis at April 28, 2006 04:06 PM
I'm not sure about this Amanda Congdon character. I never heard of her or saw her prior to The Show, and I've known about Ze's site for 5 years now. And she's not nearly as funny as him, not because she's a girl (that was sexist, Pete), but because she just doesn't have the savois faire(sp?), je ne sais quoi(sp?), or sangfroid(sp?) of Ze Francois. I say Ze wins.
What's with the Google ads? They're kinda creeping me out...
Posted by: Carly at April 28, 2006 04:09 PM
Hmmmm. Has anyone ever seen ze and Amanda together...?
Wow, that Amanda person is crazy. Either that, or she's pretending to be crazy which makes her even crazier.
Posted by: Lonnie Bruner at April 28, 2006 04:11 PM
Power moves and logo creation - nice brand interaction.
Where will you channel the energy you generate from your news perspective? Passive viewers no longer.
I sure as hell hope you have plans to make it out to vloggercon.com this June. Alot of people could use it.

maybe you and amanda should get a (chat) room next time...
Posted by: blinky at April 28, 2006 04:19 PM
So you and Amanda are friends...she is on her way to a sit com..that is if she can't create something profitable with rocketboom.com, is that what you want? I'm curious.
You are much funnier than she is...you are very intelligent but don't have to try to prove it everyday like she does (sorry Amanda)
You also have true comedic vision..and you are an art director so you know how to appeal visually.
Amanda doesn't understand these things, but she has nice..er, you know..
Rocketboom is DETERMINED to make MONEY from their site..you may or may not but you could be a fantastic comedic actor on you own. (If you aren't an actor already)
Keep your site archived because if you hit it big, people will want to see all your early work.
I'm not blowing smoke.
Thanks for making us laugh.

Hey there Ze. I'm the sports anchor for my High School's daily news and announcement program. Before I started to read from the telemprompter about the Sports anncouncements, I reffered to the audience as SPORTS RACERS. I'm pretty sure that nobody knew what that was reffering to, but I did for you. I would even kill Jodie Foster for you.

Posted by: Rick at April 28, 2006 05:33 PM
you're much funnier than amanda and too good for her. i reject this proposed coupling by some of the comments left. once again your show makes me very happy after a craptastic day.
Posted by: maria at April 28, 2006 05:39 PM
In all seriousness, everyone should e-mail CNN and tell them to take genocide out of the fucking quotation marks. Ain't nothin fake about what's going on in Darfur.
I, too, was in a crappy mood from a bad morning... until I watched your always-hilarious show.
I spent the rest of the day bopping around happily on my bike singing "Who likes the little little duckies in the pond? I do! I do! I do! I do! I do!" Ze, you're my hero. Keep it up.
Posted by: Brandi at April 28, 2006 06:12 PM
Dude, you have to be the funniest people I may have ever seen. No lie, you rival Conan O'brian as my favorite comedian. Brilliant news and humor wrapped up in a crunchy burrito. The crunch wrap supreme. "It's good to go". Yeah if I were to endorse thats how I'd do it. Tie it in seamlessly.
Posted by: Thomas Pease at April 28, 2006 06:26 PM
is rocketboom normally funny, did today just suck. Its like the show except not as well edited, and more random, but not in the good Family Guy way, in like a bad "I am so lame but think I am funny" way.
Posted by: Nathan at April 28, 2006 07:01 PM
Ze + Amanda = Duckies that say
I found you through Amanda too. Clever of you to get mentioned by her. An angry liberal! Woot woot. What a sur-prise! Anyhow, I was trying to add you through iTunes but couldn't find zeFrank or "the show" in the podcasts.
Posted by: rick at April 28, 2006 07:09 PM
Yeah, Ze, I know you probably won't care... but that whole Poop exchange thing scared me. True, it scared me into laughing for a while, but there was still fear.
And as far as your atheist game is concerned, I truly enjoye the humor behind it, as well as the Christian and Buddhist game... but Atheist know the world is round, so why put us on a flat, edged area? Just curious.
Posted by: Goober at April 28, 2006 07:12 PM
yes yes Yes YES!!!!!!!
So, never ever posted to a "comments" before. I guess I'm a new viewer except that I managed to watch most of the archives minutes before they were taken down. Used to live in Windsor Terrace. How can you deal with all these peep's poops? Seriously.

Thanks Ze. You da man.

new user here. you didn't scare me off with your frightening stairs a few days ago. good show though. one problem I have with the site is that there is no archive! I mean sure, I could go back day by day by day by day by poop, but I don't even know what day it does start. so I'll just start watching here. you're funny, and have... hair...
so keep it up.

So, I checked out Rocketboom for the first time today, and Amanda gives me the creeps. I think she was trying to pastiche The Show, but whatever, I felt like she was looking into my soul or something, and not in a good way. So in counterpoint to some of the other comments, I request that the Ze Frongdon alliance be nixed.
I like my vlog's auteured and with a dash of lime, dammit.

you must be over here because you're not over there.
e-mail is so hard and this is just too easy.
RE: Message Board
I like all of your ideas here, and I am enjoying the board; all I need now is a new job that will allow me to spend most of my working time "hanging arround." At least for a while, so that I can explore, become inspired, expand my horizons, until that big lotto money rolls in...
Anyway, I had an idea for a "forum" on "your" message board.
Is it possible, what I mean is, are you interested in other peoples ideas and adding them to this forum or is this just all about you, your stuff, your ideas, your moments in life, etc... which is ok, just thought I'd ask before I got into too much trouble.
Thanks for ze time.

My husband and I watched rocketboom just to see what all the fuss was about and we both were not impressed. This girl is getting a sitcom? Ze, you are much, much funnier than she. Also, have you noticed that a few of your jokes are repeated on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart? I noticed that on the day McClellan stepped down. Or is it just that this administration lends itself to the same kind of jokes?
Posted by: Ecila at April 28, 2006 10:04 PM
if there were to be a crossover episode of the show and rocketboom, would the entire universe collapse from hilarity and WASP-ish phenotypes??

I'm not much of a power move guy myself (except maybe on the toilet), but here are some really good ideas for you aspiring sports racers:
Posted by: monarchist at April 28, 2006 10:22 PM
Ze... do you actually read down this far when you have so many comments?
Also, will you be putting this show on iTunes? That would be totally sweet...
Or totally cool.... no. I need a better adjective.
Posted by: Scott D at April 28, 2006 10:48 PM

That was great, Keep up the good work and thank you for entertaining me on a daily basis.

hey, we don't need to bash RB b/c for a lot of people (including many people here), it led us here. RB is a different kind of show, and although ill be dishonest and say i think amanda's funnier than ze, RB does have some good content. it's like they explore the internet for me so i can spend more time failing college. but now ill have less time for that cuz of this show now.

The tension is palpable, so it's inevitable. Amanda and Ze will spawn, creating a fetus with vlog in utero. This child will be a god among men, and, more importantly, my child will have something entertaining to watch on the intarweb 4.0.
I, once again, have faith in mankind. Hurry, Amanda, use your powermove and impregnate Ze before all hope is lost.

Wikipedia says: "Guilderland High School provides a comprehensive and challenging program that ensures that students will be successful in advanced educational studies, the work force or other post-graduate plans."
Clearly you've claimed an alma mater that is not your own.
Have those wristbands designed themselves yet? If not, will we have a chance to vote on the logo once all the submissions have been received by the June 1st deadline?
Posted by: Ralphie at April 29, 2006 01:15 AM
I really don't see what the fuss about RB is. I watched it yesterday to see why it's 'the shit' with the children these days and I was amazed that anyone would watch it for more than 50 seconds. Could that woman be more annoying? Probably, but I don't want to find out.
On a completely different note, if Ze and Amanda ever had a baby (and let's hope they don't), it would have the worlds largest eyeballs.

My young nieces (3 and 4 years old) love that ogre-ish "Hello" dude that you do....you know, that raspy, lower-hung, Quasi-Modo-ish lad with the "Hello..." Anyway, they want me to play it again and again. They love it! And so do I. That's just on THAT level....you seem to echo on very deep levels. Cuz you're smart and such. I liked your riff about air quotes.
I did not like that you said "quote unquote genocide". That would actually mean an empty set of quotation marks followed by the unquoted word "genocide". [Which, ironically [sort of], actually needed to be put in quotes there. I think.]
I will forgive you. I think.

Industrial strength hooliganism. A day without Ze is a day without knowledge. And who needs that.

Most excellent show. Your riff rocks!

Knowledge never rests! Rest is for the weak and the slow... uhm, and the "under-caffeinated". (Quotation marks are fun! So are parentheses."

I have a theory. Ze Frank is really Canadian comedian Alan Park masquerading as a guy with less hair. Somebody check on this for me.

Spewed crust particals or "five-o-clock shadow"?
Posted by: jeneane at April 30, 2006 01:13 AM
low soft voice
i've been thinking about you
i've been wondering, what your day must be like putting together “the show”
sitting there, reading the news, filming yourself while you read, looking at the little camera from time to time, making faces and clever comments, talking out loud like you were talking to a friend sitting next to you or your cat, but you're all alone, only god can see you,
if there is a god,
then you wonder if that last look worked or if it was funny enough, snickering at your jokes, you know the sound, the one that doesn't have a word for it, not a laugh or a snicker really, but it comes out in little colours
then you start planing the next look or remark, synapse flashing, high order thinking blazing at super sonic speeds
thats a lot of work
then you have to get down to business, like framing art, stringing it all together, incorporating craftsmanship, making it sophisticated, till it's
cause you know me
when thinking about you and the whole “creative” process
are you suffering
from attention deficit hyperactivity or schizophrenia
i find that sexy

is rocketboom normally funny, did today just suck. Its like the show except not as well edited, and more random, but not in the good Family Guy way, in like a bad "I am so lame but think I am funny" way."
I never wrote that.....I wrote a more intelligent post. What's the deal with this misquoting!?

Dude, you have to be the funniest people I may have ever seen. No lie, you rival Conan O'brian as my favorite comedian. Brilliant news and humor wrapped up in a crunchy burrito. The crunch wrap supreme. "It's good to go". Yeah if I were to endorse thats how I'd do it. Tie it in seamlessly."
I wrote that! "Brandi" didn't write that.

I know I'm, like, comment number nine zillion and twelve, but I'm really curious so I hope you see this, Ze...
Why do Americans say "quote unquote" - and then the word that they've verbally put into quotation marks? Surely it should be the word "quote" then the word, then the word "unquote". If the word "quote" and the word "unquote" are next to each other, then the word falls outside of the quotation marks and remains unquoted.
We New Zealand speakers of English often use the word "airquotes" to verbally signify that we are doing that thing in the air with our fingers to signify quotation marks.
So instead of "quote unquote quotation marks" - or, more correctly, "quote quotation marks unquote" - we simply say airquotes quotation marks.
I hope this is airquotes helpful.

Agreed, Fritz. Rocketboom and Zefrank need to amp it up a little. I'm interested in what this continued interaction shall bring forth....
