Fabuloso Chess Edit Guide

Want to contribute your own positional suggestion? Have a comment/criticism of a move that has been posted? Here's a guide on how to properly edit and adjust the move pages yourself!

UPDATE: A blank template page for moves has been put here .. just copy paste it into a new page for the next move, and don't forget to update the fields (day of the week, Last move, boards, etc.) .. copy/paste the current board over the new boards (just don't muck up the headings or tleft/right .. just copy the board itself) and It'll be quick and painless.

Principals of Discussing Chess moves

Here are a few things that you should know when discussing the moves for Fabuloso Chess.

  1. When arguing moves, argue the move itself, not the person who suggests the move. Arguements that degreade into something like this:

  • Saving the Queen for the endgame is for Hard Chargers. Let's sacrifice her. Billy Bob 11:17, 6 July 2006 (PDT)
    • You don't know what you're talking about. People who suggest crazy alternate moves like that are Hard Chargers. Random Fabuloso 11:17, 6 July 2006 (PDT)
      • That's because you're a moron. Danetrix
    • Actually .. I agree .. I think this is the proper move. What's a hard charger? Joe Schmo 11:17, 6 July 2006 (PDT)

...do nothing to help us, the game, or the wiki as a whole.

This is a Heading

Subject headings are enclosed in == signs on the edit tab. You may see <!-- Replace Text with Move --> headings throughout the page .. just delete the <!-- --> comment arrows, type in your move, and preview your changes to make certain there are no mistakes.

The Proper Move Suggestion

e4 <-- Move Name

Each move should be illustrated with a chess board. Here is a link to the general parameters and instructions for a board, along with this example:

Note: If you are submitting a speculative line with a diagram of proposed postion (in so many moves) add your board directly underneath the speculative board, leaving no spaces. Otherwise, it will just screw up the formatting of the page. Try to not speculate more than TWO moves ahead unless the line is forced .. and if it is a forced line (for instance, a mating net of forced checks leading to mate) then insert a board for every 2 moves to help people visualize the game. Remember, 2 moves = 2 white and 2 black moves, so if you're discussing move 10, then don't speculate farther than move 12. The justification behind this is that it's almost impossible to accurately predict what lies more than 2 moves out, and it keeps the discussion pages somewhat cleaner and less confusing for non-chess afficianados.
(And it gives those arguing lines less of a headache.)

  • Kings Pawn openings is a pretty standard opening. How about we mix it up with a Queen's Pawn? Joe Schmo 11:17, 6 July 2006 (PDT)
    • I personally don't think you are on the right track with that move. It's an alternate opening that many are not used to playing. Random Fabuloso
      • Yeah... that's exactly why it should be played. Ze won't be as easily able to counter it, and there are more brains on our side then his. ßrigaderant
  • I agree .. I think this is the proper move. 123.456.789.012 ChessGuru 11:17, 6 July 2006 (PDT)
