Current Position
Contents |
Our Current Position is the Queen's Gambit Declined. Our Pawn at d5 is still being threatened by the pawn at c4, but it is protected by pawn at e5. Here is a fun [chess opening explorer]. Although our true current position will not be known until Ze makes his next move.

Strategy Discussion

Nf6
- Protects d5. e6 still remains a possibility. e6 is the practical move, but I never go that way. --voodooboy 17:06, 26 June 2006 (PDT)
- [Marshall Defense] Has its problems apparently?
- countermove from white possible - Queen to a4 (check) - necessitates blocking move by pawn to c6, and ties up the entire left side of the board under the influence of White Queen. -argonbeam3500-

e5
- Opens the lines for our Queen and Queen's bishop.bobbie_mactalk
- Doesn't this belong in Suggest a move!? (meh, consolidate it later I suppse)
Further, pawn to e4 is a move for white. We're playing as black.medwardstalk

e6
- Opens lines for bishop, further develops pawn structure, helps protect our pawn at d5, and prepares to strike at his wide-open queenside. [Queens Gambit Declined].Brigade 13:44, 26 June 2006 (PDT)
- Isn't this opening us up for Qd1-e4 (check)? Which is pretty much the same situation as described by ArgonBeam3500 in Nf6 move commentary?
- I vote for e6. Lael 14:03, 26 June 2006 (PDT)
- I vote for e6, too Gypsyssister ;although I'm suggesting an alternative below...Oh, hell; it's the slave's defense, and no, I haven't the brain to gigure out where to add this suggestion...
- Agreed. Protects d5 without the queen becoming involved and opens the line for queens bishop. Altogether sexy move. Gambit declined Ze...GAMBIT DECLINED!
- yes indeed... DECLINED!Sunnybunny
- Aye, QGD 2...e6 fyi: i'm hoping for a semi-slav, in the long run. many variations get chaotic - allowing for less 'book-moves' Nerfquark

... Qd8-d1
Per the original d7-d5 discussion I believe the Sportinski Kozimov Hard Charging Opener Blitzkrieg is our best approach. It is a particular favourite in my homeland of Elbonia. medwardstalk
- Can't use it yet .. it loses to Ke1. Brigade 13:59, 26 June 2006 (PDT)
- You mean Ke1-d1 right? But the Queen is supported by X#-d1 by the Fabuloso's medwardstalk
- My god, you're right .. and i forgot after we move the Knight, we can backwards-promote the pawn on b7 and get another queen! Ingenious! Brigade 20:22, 26 June 2006 (PDT)
- Brigade, I'd like to thank you for having good humor about this as you struggle to discuss serious moves elsewhere on the page. I still vote for this (and probably the Semi-Slav or Semi-Slav-like options). medwardstalk
- Thank you very much for the compliment, medwards. It is supposed to be in fun, after all. No reason why we can't be silly as well as intelligent (Just like Ze's videos); reaping the best of both worlds. :-)

c6
- Queens Bishop unblocked, balanced pawn structure, and prevents the pin, helps protect our pawn at d5.. [[1]].Anon 14:452, 26 June 2006 (PDT)
- Um, yeah, I vote this as well; prefer this one; now both bishops have an open line. And thank you for covering my lame butt. Gypsysister
- Vote for this by --Medwards 23:23, 26 June 2006 (PDT) : Semi-Slav defense per the very first move discussion with many bonuses.

Qd7
- Q - d7
- not sure i get where this move is going?
- imho .. common beginner mistake, developing Queen too early. (also edited subject heading) Brigade 20:19, 26 June 2006 (PDT)
