I don't want his knight getting to c4 via d6. Look where our pawns are. They are all reachable from c4. Sure, we'll probably still win. But no reason to have this annoyance. I prefer not to give away free pawns. Our bishop and king would be of no use to help out in this case. V 15:03, 10 August 2006 (PDT)
He can't get to c4. Consider the line 30. .. Rxd1 31. Bxg6 Rxg1+ 32. Kxg1 hxg6 33. Ne2 Bxd5 34. Ng3 Bc6 35. Kf2 Bxa4 36. Ne4 d5.. . he can play Nd6, but c4 is protected by d5 and he can't do anything about it. Moreover, we can now play Bd7 and the knight is trapped, to be taken by the king as he leisurally strolls over there and gobbles up the trapped piece!!! Kingpatzer 15:44, 10 August 2006 (PDT)
You may be right, but this line hasn't been discussed. Maybe others would like to play something different. I personally don't like this line because I find it annoying having his knight up there. Maybe others don't like it either. I like bringing the king up first. Or moving the pawn before he has the change to get to e4. It's not forced by any means and Bxa4 is not necessarilly the best option (though the advanced pawn is nice and is possibly worth it). I'd just like to bring others into it as otherwise, it alienates others that may want to be part of the end game even if it is won. There's more to this than being right.
