The Alternative Vote

Tomorrow's vote will have the "easy voting booth." This way, everyone who doesn't want to read over the discussion or reasoning behind a move can have a fair count in the voting.
Just remember kids, no whining.

"Holy crap! The League of Awesomeness says that any chess game started during a show has to be played all the way through! You've inadvertently challenged me to Fabuloso Chess. You have to make your first move by Sunday midnight. The LOA says that the stakes of this game are yet to be determined. You might want to contribute your ideas. I'm gonna kick your ass."

  • Discuss and vote on the current move (serious discussion only please) Voting CLOSED until (slightly prior to) TUESDAY 7:00 PM EDT

The Stakes

If we win (and have you seen the chess game discussion? We are so going to whip his ass):
The Show: Unplugged - YES! "At least 10 minutes of Ze and a guitar performing songs." By popular vote, thanks to Ann for the winning suggestion!
If we lose (psh, yeah if):
Fabulosos and Sports Racers have collectively pledged a TOTAL of: $245.47 to purchase a book from his Amazon Wish List!
We can afford The Psychology of Humor: A Reference Guide and Annotated Bibliography ($131.95): sounds stimulating! maybe he'll let us borrow it when he's done!
Note! Please do not hesitate to continue to pledge! If possible, we can bring down the amount of money everyone needs to contribute, or even purchase a few more books from his wish list!

FAQ

Q: How do we know we are playing with Ze?

A: We don't, it could be his kitty or Deep Fritz, and there was nothing in the rules that forbid him asking a grandmaster for advice either.

Q: Won't Ze be able to read all our strategies?

A: Currently there is nothing in this wiki that a freeware chess engine won't detect in 10 seconds. Unless you want to post something that analyses 18+ plies (at least 9 moves) ahead, there is no use for Ze reading it, and even then that analysis is half a move too old to be useful for him. It is important to understand that you don't win these kinds of games by trapping or surprising the opponent. You win by doing a deeper analysis at each move so that you are more likely to become aware of favorable deviations from previously analysed lines before your opponent.

Q: Who's playing white?

A: That would be Ze.Poop!

Q: What do we do if the voting is deadlocked??? Go Fuck Ourselves?!?

A: Sure... then wash your hands and come discuss it here.

Shoutbox

If you don't know where to put something, just scream out here, and maybe someone will move your comment to the right place! Please note that this is not the best place to put current move proposals, only use this shoutbox if you are really confused... or just want to shout! The shoutbox is emptied at midnight into the magic dumpster!

Holy hell the taunts really are just shit pulled out of some random ass. Honestly this verbal diarrhea is embarrassing and a disgrace to the game. Use something from the "good taunt" section, not some half digested regurgitation of Ze's insult. -Graymon

Is there a veto procedure to challenge a move that got voted in but is still a grave error? Kingpatzer 08:02, 7 July 2006 (PDT)

I believe arc already answered that question for you .. "Not playing collaborative chess, I think." ... put succinctly: No. I see the chickens laid in move 3 are about to come home to roost.

Prediction: ze in 16

Major .. if you plan on submitting the vote at midnight .. you're going to have to be the tiebreaking vote .. if it comes to that. It's 10-10 right now .. ßrigaderant

Could someone explain the last moves, up to that point you were doing reasonably fine, then 8. .. b6 and Ze's 9. a3  ??? What is going on? Doesn't material mean anything in the league of awesomeness??? --gelbitalk 08:40, 10 July 2006 (PDT) Kingpatzer showed up starting at move 8 .. read the move threads. I don't understand it either .. and last I heard Major was submitting the votes @ midnight .. and it was tied 10-10 at the time, I told him it was up to him to break the tie when he submitted the move. If he didn't .. well I have no idea what's going on. ßrigaderant 09:29, 10 July 2006 (PDT)

  • ummm I was against b6 and for c6. a3 is either a blunder by Ze not taking advantage of our mistake (cxd5 after b6 would have been a disaster) _OR_ he's wanting to make a game of it so he choose a move to allow us the chance to equalize. In either case, after Bxc3 we're going to be back to being fine with equal chances Kingpatzer 11:57, 10 July 2006 (PDT)

I thought I would offer myself as a send-in-move-backup guy if either mayor/bobbie_mac/brigade can't. I live in PST so I will be up by closing, and would even abstain from voting so it would stay fair. Geedubber 10:04, 10 July 2006 (PDT)

We need to set up a list of 'backups' .. and I think that in the case of a tie (as it was last night) the vote submitter should cast the tie-breaker vote, even if it means voting twice. 68.189.211.207
