The Challenge
"Holy crap! The League of Awesomeness says that any chess game started during a show has to be played all the way through! You've inadvertently challenged me to Fabuloso Chess. You have to make your first move by Sunday midnight. The LOA says that the stakes of this game are yet to be determined. You might want to contribute your ideas. I'm gonna kick your ass." - 06-23-06
The Stakes
Ze has accepted our stakes - 06-30-06
- When we win (and have you seen the chess game discussion? We are so going to whip his ass):
- The Show: Unplugged - YES! "At least 10 minutes of Ze and a guitar performing songs." By popular vote, thanks to Ann for the winning suggestion!
- If we lose (as if):
- Fabulosos and Sports Racers have collectively pledged a TOTAL of: $305 to purchase a book from his Amazon Wish List!
- We can afford The Psychology of Humor: A Reference Guide and Annotated Bibliography ($131.95): sounds stimulating! maybe he'll let us borrow it when he's done!
Note! Please do not hesitate to continue to pledge! If possible, we can bring down the amount of money everyone needs to contribute, or even purchase a few more books from his wish list! See how far down it's come so far!
- I checked amazon.com today and the price of this book has gone up $5. It is now $136.95 plus shipping. PTWhipplebang 06:10, 4 August 2006 (PDT)

FAQ
Q: How do we know we are playing with Ze?
A: We don't, it could be his kitty or Deep Fritz, and there was nothing in the rules that forbid him asking a grandmaster for advice either.
Q: Won't Ze be able to read all our strategies?
A: Currently there is nothing in this wiki that a freeware chess engine won't detect in 10 seconds. Unless you want to post something that analyzes 18+ plies (at least 9 moves) ahead, there is no use for Ze reading it, and even then that analysis is half a move too old to be useful for him. It is important to understand that you don't win these kinds of games by trapping or surprising the opponent. You win by doing a deeper analysis at each move so that you are more likely to become aware of favorable deviations from previously analyzed lines before your opponent.
Q: Who's playing white?
A: That would be Ze. Poop!!
Q: Are there images of the previous moves? I'm a visual person and I can't imagine a chess game on only algebraic notation.
A: You could take a look at the detailed history or use a freeware chess program to re-create the game using the move list.
Q: What happens in the event of stalemate ?
A: The world explodes. Or, we compromise: Ze gives us a short concert and we buy him a less expensive book.
Shoutbox
If you don't know where to put something, just scream out here, and maybe someone will move your comment to the right place! Please note that this is not the best place to put current move proposals, only use this shoutbox if you are really confused... or just want to shout! The shoutbox is emptied at midnight into the magic dumpster!

Guitar to F1
Bwa ha ha. arc
...Doesn't this just allow him to take your 'guitar' with his Bishop the next move? Poor planning sir. [Melby]
- Actually the guitar is now Ze's piece, so he can't take it, even though it moves on our turn. The guitar moves only towards Ze, and has no other applicable moves. Ze is pretty much out of options at this point. The only thing he can really play would be h3, but then the guitar goes g1. The king's next option is h2, and the guitar captures it. Ze is screwed. arc
excellent explanation of how the guitar works, arc. it appeared after Rf2 and that was pretty much the match. 208.60.177.45
FABULOSO WEBCAM EDITION
Hey ze! Why not set up an actual board representing the fabuloso game of chess nongoing in the hitherparts! And point a webcam at it and put it on TehShow's sidebar! I admit, it wouldn't add much in terms of functionality, but who the hell cares! It would be awsome! Exclamation!!!!1!!11! Benji XVI, 29 July 2006 GMT
