• For discussion on the hard chargers ganging up on the wiki and using it for their own nefarious purposes. I have created this page: Dictators in a Democracy: Wikis and those who use them.

• The above was removed due to an apparent misunderstanding on the author's part. S/he thought that the main page was protected by hard charging wiki dictators to prevent the masses from participating. The reality is that automated spam-bots were removing peices of SR text and replacing it with drug advertisements. Since spam-bots change IP addresses frequently, the only real way to defend against them is to set certain pages to be modifiable only by registered users. Since the act of registering does no particularly decrease one's anonymity to the community as a whole, and it typically only needs to be done to a small number of high-traffic pages, it is not seen as an onerous price to pay to prevent spam. --Sford 05:26, 6 July 2006 (PDT)
