Voting CLOSED Until 7pm
Today's Suggested Moves have been posted, and the voting polls will open at Monday 7PM EDT and close at Tuesday 12AM EDT(Monday Night), in order to give time for enough deliberation before the votes are cast. Don't have a username/Id yet? Get one here! and take some credit for your contributions!
Remember to check back even if you've already cast your vote! .. there's still some disagreement between potential moves .. and analysis will most likely continue up until Sunday night when the polls close. It's also not too late to submit a vote for another move that has not been evaluated yet .. (although it looks like we have most of the best move options available, people can always miss things).
- (very) Rough draft of the Fabuloso Chess Edit Guide is now up and located here
Use the following tags to help suggest moves, and remember if you want to throw up an example speculative board in the discussion, please refer to the Edit Guide on how to properly format it.
<!-- ==Speculative Move== -->
<!-- REMOVE THIS LINE TO INSERT BOARD

<!-- MAKE CERTAIN YOU ADD A COMMENT TO JUSTIFY THIS POSITION-->
{{clear}}
Just follow the instructions, and completely delete those lines .. and don't forget to replace 'Speculative Move' with the actual move name. Also bear in mind that anything after the clear tag won't be visible, so don't enter any text underneath it (unless you're adding another section)
Voting Instructions
Cut and paste the following to vote
# '''VOTE''' by ~~~~: add a comment!
- You may vote for many moves as you like, but only one vote per move.
- When voting closes, the move with the most votes wins.
- If there is a tie, whoever tallies the votes breaks the tie.
Strategy Discussion
- OK, Sorry, I don't know much about how to maintain a WIKI, but I thought I would get things started.
- Now, the real strategy question is - Which line do we take? Knight is now in jeapordy without backup, and it would appear pieces are going to start being exchanged shortly. There's my limited contribution - not sure what to suggest, other than Nxe5 in an exchange...I'll suggest that below...(whoops, looks like someone beat me to it!). --Absalom 10:40, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
- Somehow things got mixed up. Ze's move was e4, not Ne5. PTWhipplebang 10:42, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
- what happened? did he change it? or did someone just read it wrong? Geedubber 10:51, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
- When I watched the show, at the end there was a black screen with white text reading "FABULOSOS: E4." I assume that's his move. PTWhipplebang 10:46, 17 July 2006 (PDT)

Suggested Move Summary
dxc4
- Takes a pawn, threatens his bishop. Geedubber 10:49, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
- It also locks up that diagonal for our bishop (not a good thing).
- That's a good point. If the white bishop moves away from the attack, our pawn will block our diagonal to the rook.
- It does block our bishop but it really cramps him in. I think this is Black's best response. Jeff 11:16, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
- It force him to retreat to Be2 and basically lose a move. It really locks him up. Geedubber 11:23, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
- It also locks up that diagonal for our bishop (not a good thing).
Nxc4
- Wins a pawn, but we cannot move the knight without protecting the bishop. If Ze takes the knight, we take the bishop and threaten the rook. We are threatening a fork, but we cannot do it without setup and Ze will easily evade.--Neal 11:02, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
- Do we end up losing a knight and bishop for just a pawn and bishop here? Probably Bxc4 is a better move.--Neal 11:07, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
- I don't know, but Ze would probably respond with e5 threatening our queen or Qa4 threatening our bishop. With this move we are forcing him to be more aggressive. Geedubber 11:10, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
Bxc4
A bit more agressive version
- Bxc4 loses to e5 -Jeff 11:12, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
dxe4
This eliminates the potential threat on our queen and may lead to us trading a knight for his bishop. PTWhipplebang 11:33, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
Rfe8
- Puts pressure on his knight and keeps us from having to move our king next move if he goes for check. -christian 11:26, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
