Voting CLOSED Until 7pm
Today's Suggested Moves have been posted, and the voting polls will open at Thursday 7PM EDT and close at Friday 12AM EDT(Thursday night), in order to give time for enough deliberation before the votes are cast. Don't have a username/Id yet? Get one here! and take some credit for your contributions!
Remember to check back even if you've already cast your vote! .. there's still some disagreement between potential moves .. and analysis will most likely continue up until Sunday night when the polls close. It's also not too late to submit a vote for another move that has not been evaluated yet .. (although it looks like we have most of the best move options available, people can always miss things).
- (very) Rough draft of the Fabuloso Chess Edit Guide is now up and located here
Use the following tags to help suggest moves, and remember if you want to throw up an example speculative board in the discussion, please refer to the Edit Guide on how to properly format it.
<!-- ==Speculative Move== -->
<!-- REMOVE THIS LINE TO INSERT BOARD

<!-- MAKE CERTAIN YOU ADD A COMMENT TO JUSTIFY THIS POSITION-->
{{clear}}
Just follow the instructions, and completely delete those lines .. and don't forget to replace 'Speculative Move' with the actual move name. Also bear in mind that anything after the clear tag won't be visible, so don't enter any text underneath it (unless you're adding another section)

- It seems like we have to do something to save our bishop and prevent the eventual fork of our knight and queen. PTWhipplebang 10:59, 20 July 2006 (PDT)
- I don't think we should allow him the "out" of saying that if he hadn't made a typo he would have won. I think it's important that we let him make the move he thought was the best move. Even though he is saying plan on - I think we should revet back so that we play out what he considers his best course...
- Wrote that before the show and still think it: "As far as I am concerned His Mighty Duckness could, if he somehow got something mixed up (it is pretty hot these days), take back the move and do the 16th move he wanted to make" ; We should keep playing from 16. d5 --Oeny 11:05, 20 July 2006 (PDT)
- I think we should revert to his intended move, just my $.02 Kingpatzer 11:12, 20 July 2006 (PDT)
- didn't his intended move sorta suck though? Geedubber 11:28, 20 July 2006 (PDT)
- I think he should have been more careful if he didn't want to make a mistake. We already gave him a chance to take the move back, and he said "play on." PTWhipplebang 11:17, 20 July 2006 (PDT)
- I'd vote for going back a move. Though I don't see him as being in any better shape with the d5 move...Otis 11:18, 20 July 2006 (PDT)
- Whether we decide to go back or not, I think we should decide on our response to Nb4.PTWhipplebang 11:32, 20 July 2006 (PDT)
- Agreed. Otis 11:36, 20 July 2006 (PDT)
Fork the game. Provide a move to play on and a move for the reverted game then allow him to pick bitBender
- I think that's a bad idea. It's one thing to give him a choice between his moves, it's something completely different to give him a choice between *our* moves. PTWhipplebang 11:50, 20 July 2006 (PDT)
Offer To Go Back A Move
- VOTE by Otis 11:24, 20 July 2006 (PDT) -- The gesture of making the offer to go back a move is in the spirit of a friendly game, imho. The only question I have is if there is a quick way to resolve the issue. Or would we have to wait until tomorrow for Ze's response? Perhaps an email directly to Ze with the offer to go back a move is the most efficient route?
- VOTE let's give a response to this move but offer to revert to d5 if he wishes Kingpatzer 11:41, 20 July 2006 (PDT)
- VOTE by PTWhipplebang 11:43, 20 July 2006 (PDT): I'm changing my vote. I think this makes sense as long as we're prepared for the scenario that he turns down our offer.
- VOTE I think it is the right thing to do, especially since he gave us a pass. Agreed we should continue deliberating on Nb4. arc 2:47, 20 July 2006 (EST)
- VOTE by Oeny 11:47, 20 July 2006 (PDT): Agreed to Kingpatzer's proposal
Play On
Suggested Move Summary
Bb7
Move our bishop to safety. Geedubber 11:22, 20 July 2006 (PDT)
- In addition to moving the bishop out of danger, I like the added pressure this move puts on the center. Otis 11:42, 20 July 2006 (PDT)
- continuation of our previous analysis. The bishop has done it's job in restraining the center and can now go back to the a8-h1 diagonal where it serves us a bit better Kingpatzer 11:43, 20 July 2006 (PDT)
- I like this better than Bb5 for the simple reason that if white plays f4 then Bxe4 is possible Kingpatzer 11:52, 20 July 2006 (PDT)
- VOTE by Otis 11:54, 20 July 2006 (PDT): Another early vote, but I see this as the best move - blacks game continues to open up while white becomes more and more restricted. Good work, fabulosos, this has been a lot of fun to watch!
