Humble Request
In the past 24 hours, it has been suggested that only those who pledge towards the losing pool should vote, I disagree with this. However, I do not think it is too much to ask that anyone who does vote SIGN their vote with ~~~~. If you don't have a registered account, it takes 30 seconds and is entirely worth the time. It makes it easier to carry on conversations with everyone else about the moves and will quiet any doubters of unfair voting practice. --mayorcjSR 21:43, 29 June 2006 (PDT)
- Cut and paste the following to vote for a section:
# '''VOTE''' by ~~~~: add a comment!
Can we give me a bit to copy all the suggested moves in from the Move 5 Challange? --Medwards
Arrogant request
Fabulosos, there is a tendency of moves going the way ßrigade is pushing. While he is a very good chess player, he too can make a serious mistake and it is a bit disturbing that so few people challange him. I'm going away for a few weeks now and I wish all of you the best of luck! Yes, it's good to listen to what experts like ßrigade has said, but please vote as late as possible after reading what other people have said as well. --gelbitalk 06:45, 30 June 2006 (PDT)
- 'going away?' to somewhere they don't have computers?! (sniff)
- Yes, something like a two week vacation, without my laptop :O --gelbitalk 07:15, 30 June 2006 (PDT)
- gelbi has proposed an idea that voting only be allowed between 9pm and midnight of the day of the voting. The point would be to allow ideas to be fleshed out before bandwagon hopping commences. I believe this should be seriously considered:debate here - arcblah
- Let's try it tonight and see how things go. If you absolutely have to vote earlier, leave your vote on the ARTICLE page, and we can see how many would be affected, otherwise, I suggest opening the vote at 8pm ET, 5pm PT.
- AFTERTHOUGHT ITS FRIDAY! No show Saturday or Sunday! So now we really don't need to worry about it. Let's just open the voting Sunday at Noon ET!
Strategy Discussion

Our Pawn at d5 is still being threatened by the pawn at c4, but it is protected by pawn at e6. The c3 knight no longer threatens d5, as our b4 Bishop has it pinned to his king. We have also advanced our Knight to f3 in preparation to possibly assault Ze's position. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with some common middlegame tactics as well.
Also, please don't be too hesitant to suggest your own move in this section. Just use * to begin a line and add your idea, even if you aren't familiar with notation, or don't feel comfortable updating the boards/suggestions yourself, there are plenty of us that will be more than willing to set them up for you (and keep everything organized) ßrigaderant
- Guys, we are getting too agressive. What are we going to do with the horse & bish? Look 4 moves down that chain. What are we really going to do, besides trading a bish and a knight for a bish and a knight, and giving away the center? Its as bad to be overdefensive as it is to be over aggressive. This isnt endgame yet, and we should NOT play it like it is, or it will be our endgame. We have done a fair opening game. We are transitioning to midgame.... We dont get the wedding night until after the wedding day... Potential Ze moves: Q-A4, P-C5, K-e5(fork setup). Potential Fab moves(not in order): Q-d6 (def B), Q-d7 (def vs. p), K-C6 (def B), B-D2(def vs. Q), P-B6(open B, def vs p). Moves for Fabs to avoid K-A6(bish victim), KxC3(we kill our own pin), BxC3(losing trade), Q-G5orH4 (Giving away the queen). AnonHC
The threats from Ze
The first thing you should ask in Chess is "What is my opponent trying to do". Let's try to draw up the main attack plan and treaths that face us in this position. That might explain why in the current situations some defensive moves like castling are justified.

c5
Just tossing this line out from last move. medwardstalk
- no idea if this works, but it allows our Queen to move forward to support the bishop and makes a3 a meaningless threat because he'd lose his rook.
Voting Closed until Sunday Noon ET
Nb6
Nb6 by 66.47.159.86 (aka Mike): I know nothing about playing chess professionally. This just occurred to me, and it would help us out with ze's pawn buildup. Feel free to shoot this down at will.
- Nb6 isn't possible...do you mean Nc6?
