Alright, the Stakes discussion is complete, see this page. But there are some issues we need to resolve:

  • What happens, if we draw?
  • We only have $20, we need something like $130 to get the book.
  • How do we practically manag the fund gathering?? Do you know any good services???
If you like, I'll give you guys the address to my PayPal account and we can gather the money there. (We'd only start this process if we lose.) I'll let you know what gets collected and after a period of time...say a week...we'll close collection and I'll get the most expesive book off his list we can afford. I should be able to send it to him directly through Amazon. bobbie_mactalk

If we draw ...

Either it means nothing or it means both get what they wanted (well in Ze's case, we decided what he wanted, but it's from his wish list)

  • I wouldn't agree to a draw meaning nothing. For all sports racers watching, it would be sadly anti-climatic. Remember, this game may not be completed for a significant amount of episodes. - Danetrix

Getting more money

Well, here is a serious concern. And maybe one way to get more money in, is if it gives you some priviledge in voting. The most sane approach I think would be to say only people who have contributed with at least $3 gets to vote? What do you say???

  • Well, that would be no voting for me anymore. I don't have any money online. Is it me out of every vote ever on the wiki? Is american democracy reverting to european democracy circa eighteenth century, where only the propertied had a vote? But let's not go into a political rant here, bad for my blood pressure. I don't think it's a sane idea.
(Update:) Urgh, I should leave this alone, but if this is the most sane approach, what were the insane options like? - Disso
  • Getting money is easier the more exposure you have. The German kid's shirt was paid for in a few days because Ze kept mentioning it on the show, and there was an easy paypal link right next to the movie. Don't know how many viewers there were back then, but I'm guessing at least tens of thousands who have heard Ze ask for donations a couple times. We don't have that exposure here in the depths of the wiki. Again I think that for purposes like raising money a board would probably be more effective. - Disso
  • I agree. Paying to vote is spooky. We already have enough money to get a book off Ze's list. Let's just list what level we're at and run this like a pledge drive.bobbie_mactalk
